Pros: - 7 USB ports, 2 of which can be used for pass-through DisplayPort. Perfect for my new Dell UltraSharp which can use a USB-C port for both a 4K display and upstream USB with charging. The only other mini PC in this form factor with this many ports is the Intel NUC 11 model with a 2nd LAN connector. - Comparable performance with the Intel i7-1185G7, which is also just beginning to come out in mini PC form, as of June 1, 2021. - RE: Performance, Windows 10 installed from USB stick in under 5 minutes. Windows 10 boots in under 10 seconds. - Easy assembly when inserting RAM and storage.
Cons: - Will report back, if any are found.
Overall Review: - Originally announced in November 2020, it took 6 months before it showed up in the US. It was showing up for sale on European web sites at least a month before. Don't know if the delay was due to COVID supply problems, the Suez Canal blockage, or something else. I'm glad I waited, because the European VAT taxes made their prices unattractive. - Still in early setup stages, and the full configuration won't be in place until the UltraSharp monitor is delivered in July. I will amend this review when I have everything set. - One interesting detail to note that is not in any article or description of this product: it comes with a heat sink for the M.2 SSD. If you already have an M.2 SSD with a heat sink, then you won't need the one that is included, but then you would have to make sure that yours will fit inside the case. The clearance is roughly 5/8". If you install a 2nd drive on the SATA3 connection, then the clearance will be reduced by the height of your drive, 7.5 mm to 9 mm depending on what you have. - Configuration details: 64 GB G.SKILL DDR4-3200 CL22 RAM, WD 1 TB SN750 M.2 NVMe SSD for OS and application storage, WD SA500 Red 2 TB SATA3 SSD for main storage, (eventually) using all 3 video connectors in the back (mDP, HDMI, USB-C w/DP pass-through). - The cooling fan was audible, but sounded normal to me. It wasn't annoying or too loud. Of course, the activity so far has been light, mainly setup and installation of Windows and applications, so we'll see if it gets really loud during heavy use. With prior Brix Pros that I've had (i7-5775), the fan could sound like a jet engine going to max power.
