Driver issues 2/4/2013 8:39:08 PM

Pros: Great graphics output

Cons: The drivers have had problems ever since I installed the card. Most days it just has a few glitches and momentary screen freezing but the longer I have the card the more problems I have. Lately it has been causing blue screen, entire comp freeze, trouble booting up and similar issues.

Awesome card in its day 6/30/2011 11:58:59 AM

Pros: Powerful card , Not as noisy as some I have had even with fan at 100%.Works well with current Nvidia drivers.

Cons: Heat, heat, and more heat. This is the original dual PCB invocation of this card . It was short lived due to the heat issues with having both GPUs sandwiched between two PCBs, ( replaced later with the Co-Op single PCB design )
and its high cost of production as opposed to a single board design.

Does not scale well in quad SLI.

No DX11

Overall Review: I rarely will rate a card I do not specifically own however I do own the EVGA brand of this exact card. The performance was outstanding at the time of its release and it still holds its own against GTX480's,GTX570's, and the new GTX560ti , however since quad sli is its only upgrade path it is at a distinct disadvantage over the newer 500 series which scale in the 100% range when SLI'd. The heat issue is the real deal breaker however since I have to dial back max fps in console for most games to keep it from hitting its 105C peak and begin back throttling itself. Have seen 125fps @1920x1080 with max settings in Black Ops but only for a few moments before it maxes out in temp. Currently set to 100fps to keeps under 95c.

Again a great card but past its prime when there are much better choices around for the same cost.

Awesome Card 5/1/2010 10:00:40 AM

Pros: 480 SPs total. Essentially two GTX 285s in SLI. Relatively low power consumption for a high end card. Quiet and cool at stock settings.

Cons: Runs hot when overclocked, but I have one of the reference cards that Nvidia used at conventions to demo the card so the cooler isnt quite as good as it was in later revisions. Fan gets loud when you push past 60%.

Overall Review: I patched an EVGA voltage tuning utility to get it to work with my card and at the moment Im sitting at 720MHz core, 1.5GHz shader, and 2.5GHz memory with 1.2v. Still dialing it in but temperature seems to be the only thing holding me back from pushing farther.

And the gaming Lord put his hand upon me so that I should see. 6/18/2009 10:50:01 PM

Pros: I was floored the first time I played FarCry2, Crysis, and World at War. I ditched my 9800 GTX for this card and am glad that I did. I haven't had any issues with overheating even after 3-4 hours of gaming. The graphics are very crisp. Gigabyte makes a great motherboard and based on that I bought the graphics card. I can't really think of anything bad to say about it so far.

Cons: I can't drive it to work.

Overall Review: I was going to pair up 9800 GTX cards, now I don't need to. In the future the next upgrade will be two 295's.
