GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4650 DirectX 10.1 GV-R465D2-1GI 1GB 128-Bit GDDR2 AGP 8X HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: Simple plug and play. My power supply already had a 6 pin plug and didn't have to use the 6 pin to dual molex connector adapter. Hooked up DVI to my BenQ LCD and HDMI to my Toshiba. Windows defaulted to low res on boot up. Unloaded old drivers and loaded the drivers straight from the disk. A few tweaks in Catalyst software and got HDMI working with both audio and video. Got dual display working and HDMI display makes my LCD look like an old CRT. HDMI is just amazing!!! A few software tests; Battlefield 2 on full settings without any lag. My Serene fish screen saver was at 580 fps, now runs 680 fps.

Cons: Software took a long time to load. It appeared to be locked up a few times but was just taking its time to load. Got a few pop ups about not tested or may not be compatible with XP??

Overall Review: Been waiting a long time to make my last upgrade on my current platform. Choose this over the Sapphire 3850 mainly for the HDMI. I upgraded from a 9600XT. My components that make this work; Gigabyte motherboard with core2 cpu, 2 gig ram, 600w OZ stealth power supply.

Pros: AGP of course DVI-I and HDMI connector (has D-sub also) 1gb of DDR2 ram Drivers included with card work perfectly with my Windows XP Pro Fan is quiet

Overall Review: This Radeon 4650 card is awesome for older systems using AGP video support. Gigabyte did an awesome job of getting the card and drivers right the first time out, without the hassle of incompatible drivers issues that has plagued some of the previous Radeon AGP cards. This system running my old ATi 9800 XT had a lot of problems with newer games, and using SysMark06 graphics benchmark software gave me a score of only 1598. After installing the card I got a score of 5465 which is not bad at all considering it is a Intel P4 3.4mhz system with AGP. I was able to run the card without problems with a 400 watt PSU with only 16amps on the 12volt rail, but felt more comfortable upgrading to a 650 watt PSU with 34A on the 12volt. Plus I now have the proper PCI Express 6-pin power connector, don't worry if you do not have the PCIe plug as it comes with a 2x4 Pin Molex to 6 Pin Connector for older power supplies (you will still need 2 free 4 Pin Molex Connectors to power this card)

Pros: Do not hesitate to buy this card running left for dead with 2 gig of ram and a old 2800 amd with a 350 watt power supply graphics are smooth game play is fantastic was ready to throw the old girl out . i couldnt be happier

Pros: It's AGP. It's got HDMI output. The audio works.

Overall Review: It comes with a sticker on the box that states that the HDMI audio output doesn't work with Vista. Plugged it in and it does. Your mileage may vary, but I'm quite pleased.

Pros: Just what I needed to breathe a little more life into that old machine. Simple installation, I used the included power adapter, it works fine with my 350w PS. I downloaded the drivers from the gigabyte website.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: New Egg raised the price of the Sapphire 3850 (w/ rebate) to match this card shortly after it came out.

Pros: This card can let you get a couple more years of use from the old box.

Cons: Couldn't install a driver neither from CD nor from ATI Catalyst website. CD was crashing computer (looks like CD was trying to install 32 bit version on my XP64 Pro), and ATI driver could not recognize the card. Solved by downloading driver directly from Gygabyte.

Overall Review: ATI Catalyst driver for Linux also cannot recognize this card (I made only one attempt so far).

Pros: As much graphics horsepower as your old AGP rig can handle. Big speedup from my old ATI X1350. Runs quietly. Clean analog signal @ 1920x1200x85 Hz.

Cons: Tricky to use the XP drivers downloaded from ATI. Bulky fan/heatsink requires at least one extra slot, but I gave it 2 spaces before the next card.

Overall Review: When I install a new piece of hardware, I usually don't even bother with the included CD - I go straight to the MFG's website and download the latest. For the XP drivers, at least, what you need to know is that you have to find the AGP hotfix, which is listed with an incorrect note saying that it only applies to the HD 2600 and some other old AGP card. If you read the release notes, it does say it works with the 4000 series, as well. Anyway, once I found and installed the AGP hotfix driver release, it reported a warning which was that the driver wasn't signed. This seems to have caused the install to fail. What I then did was to open the device manager and select "upgrade driver" on the devices flagged as having a problem. I told it to find a driver from the temporary location where the ATI installer unpacked. Then, I selected the ATI 4600 Series driver, clicked past the warning about the unqualified driver, rebooted, and it worked perfectly.
