i change my cases more frequently than any other component, then build around those. i reuse as many components as i can, getting the most out of them. i ran with AMD from the late 90's to 2018 [Slot-A Thunderbird to AM3+ Vishera]. in 2018, i moved to intel.

A tad late, but much appreciated ...

AMD Phenom 9550 Agena 2.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor
AMD Phenom 9550 Agena 2.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor

Pros: Upgraded from a 6400+ BE. Runs much cooler & doesn't use as much wattage (18C idle/24C load . A marked improvement in overall computing. The price is very reasonable, (whether on a AM2 or AM2+). Games play much smoother & look a little better, especially UT3. It's quite difficult to overload this CPU. I have 4 instances of Orthos-Prime running CPU Stress/Small FFTs/Priority 9 & there's ZERO slowdown or choppyness; while typing this review, defragging my HD, listening to iTunes & watching a DVD...

Cons: Came with a cheesy HS, (but not an issue since I'm on water). My first take on the power consumption of these quads was disappointing. However, my guess is that they need more power since they are a "True" quad-core? My main reason for getting this CPU was because of it's rated 95W consumption versus my 6400+ 125W. I lost about 1,000 3DMark2006 points with this CPU.

Overall Review: Overall I'm happy with the CPU. It made my little frag-box "that much better". the Truth...

Hoyle Card Games 2008 PC Game
Hoyle Card Games 2008 PC Game

Pros: I've had this version for a few months. I like the way it plays & behaves on XP, Vista or Win7. Probably the most solid suite of card games which feature Pinochle, Spades, Bridge etc...

Cons: The graphics are archaic. The resolution is locked to like 800x600. Hoyle (Encore or Navarre Ent.) have really got their head's up their whazzoos. Each year they put out a "new" version of their infamous Card Games series and each year it shows absoluetely ZERO visual improvement. In fact it actually degrades. I downloaded version 2010 thinking it would be "better". It was actually worse than 2008.

Overall Review: Shame on you people for regurgitating the same piece of donkey doodle over & over. I feel as though this 2008 version plays & behaves better than newer versions. If you are into playing various card games (which it does include just about all of them) then this is the best one to get. It's honestly not worth paying the $20+ for the download off their Website. Just buy the disc from tha' Egg.

Fun to build in

Geometric Future M8 Lohan Black Mid Tower E-ATX/ATX Gaming Case, 4mm Glass/ 1.0 mm Steel, Vertical Air Duct design, Support 420/360 Radiator, Vertical GPU Mount, GEO-M8-LOB (PC Case Only)
Geometric Future M8 Lohan Black Mid Tower E-ATX/ATX Gaming Case, 4mm Glass/ 1.0 mm Steel, Vertical Air Duct design, Support 420/360 Radiator, Vertical GPU Mount, GEO-M8-LOB (PC Case Only)

Pros: i really liked the look & design of the GEO-FUTURE case. 420mm rad support was a key reason why i chose it. i was able to stuff an AC Freezer II 420mm in the rear. however, due to the rad's 38mm thickness (coupled with their fan's 27mm thickness) i was ~2mm too husky. i swapped out the AC fans with some 140x25mm fans i dug up which made it all fit with ZERO room to spare. after a few hours of playing with it, i see the possibilities of incorporating a custom loop; it's really beckoning a dual 360 (or even a dual 420) loop. but for now, i'll finish up this build and run it until i can free up some h2o parts (and time).

Cons: my 2 complaints with this case (which are NOT unique to this case but rather 85% of ALL other cases): NO USB-C front header included <and/or> rubber grommets for mobo panel (which closes up much of the negative space and makes a HUGE difference). for any case over $100 these items *should* be perfunctory imho.

Overall Review: above average thermals, unique design & attention to details (fit & finish: machine work, sturdiness & powder coating is A-1). i'll probably build a few more with this company's cases. contrary to what they mention on their web site; 458 x 138 x 38 mm rad w/ 25mm thick fans support confirmed in rear PLUS 140.3 fans on bottom. FYI: install rad by it self 1st, then fans onto rad after. you CAN install with tubes down if you prefer, but make sure your tubes are long enough, mine were but i opted not to purely for looks. {{{ UPDATE }}} after 2 weeks of use, i've come to enjoy this case even more. that said, i would've been disappointed if i hadn't gotten it on sale. it's a good & unique offering if (when) on sale. but for MSRP, i must emphasize the lack of: 1) USB-C front panel 2) rubber grommets 3) filtration on the rear & top vent other manufacturers are skimping out on these as well, but they're not asking as much so... ***two other things to note: a) if using an aio, temps are much better with it as intake - right onto the GPU. b) since the bottom fans are my primary intake & the layout of the feet do obstruct 2/3 fans, i used a metal wire 3 tier shelf to place it on. i have the room to spare it's an extra expense & something to consider. i personally maintain my 5 star review, but wanted to share some of it's caveats ♥/

Great Fun @ home

TEKKEN 7 - Definitive Edition - PC [Online Game Code]
TEKKEN 7 - Definitive Edition - PC [Online Game Code]

Pros: 1) it's Tekken 2) < $20 (shell shocker) 3) nice graphics (that won't need high end hardware) 4) includes a TON of characters, oufits, modes. 5) has Akuma 6) has Bryan 7) has Hwoarang

Cons: 1) it's not Virtua Fighter (rip) 2) requires Steam (i don't care for digital pimping services: but that's because i'm outdated and/or irrelevant)

Overall Review: ...reminds me of hustling people on T3 @ the bowling alley arcade.

My daily driver

Intel Core i9-11900 - Core i9 11th Gen Rocket Lake 8-Core 2.5 GHz LGA 1200 65W Intel UHD Graphics 750 Desktop Processor - BX8070811900
Intel Core i9-11900 - Core i9 11th Gen Rocket Lake 8-Core 2.5 GHz LGA 1200 65W Intel UHD Graphics 750 Desktop Processor - BX8070811900

Pros: - low tdp - pci-e 4.0 w/ 20 lanes - has *oc* potential with a z590 board - good IMC for ddr4 hijinks - well priced (at time of this review)

Cons: - i bought it when it was $380'ish ? - i read somewhere that it's pretty much a down binned 11700k. - 4.6Ghz stock all core

Overall Review: * i ♥ this proc. i own many Intel cpus from 7th-11th gen this IS my fav. it's the consummate daily driver. * with a decent z590 it can outrun a non-oc'd K version [simply open it's power limits & bump the BLCK and Roberto can be your madre's hermano]. * intel's 11gen IMC can get you into some really fun scenarios that previous gens couldn't, (hence breathing some new life into your old kits). * i have paired it with a 3060/70ti & it rocked games like Horizon, RDR2, NIOH @4k.

best mECH for the $$$

Pros: proper layout with #-pad / mutli-media keys backlit (white NON-RGB) keys solid minimal construction full mechanical with key puller included under $30 shipped

Cons: i DO prefer brown switches, but these DO come with blue preinstalled; not a significant issue, but worth mentioning. I should have bought a 12 pack of these guys ;- /

Overall Review: Great deals are still hatching here (for those who know difference).
