GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-H170 - Easy setup.11/28/2018 7:40:44 PM

Pros: -Specs were what I was looking for. I didn't buy a K proc so I didn't need the Z170. -Still plenty of bells and whistles. -Loved the front panel adapter. -Plenty of 4-pin fan connectors. -Recognized everything right from the start, even my SSD. -Can't hurt that it looks like a $200 mobo.

Cons: -Sata ports were a little difficult to work with but that is partially my cases fault. -Even though it's the H170, I would of liked to see some support for different RAM speeds. -Would of liked another sata cable. 2 Is just not enough these days.

Overall Review: I've been using it for about a month now with no issues and is a huge upgrade from my previous 785G. -The extra monitoring tools and the APP center in general aren't that bad and they use minimal systems resources. -Unfortunately you can snag a Z170 for about $20 more if you wait for the right time but it'll be a base. -Nothing would keep me from recommending this product to someone interested in getting a newer 1151 socket board but wasn't looking to break the bank. Good compromise between affordability and the provided features and reliability. UPDATE 11/28/2018 - Still running strong.

Good for the time11/18/2018 8:32:20 PM

Pros: -Setup was as simply as can be. -Reliable. Has lasted 3 years so far and I'm running my system nearly 16hrs a day. -Fast. If you're coming from a standard HDD, prepare to enter the modern world.

Cons: -It's full. I only use it for my OS but it's to the point where I've got 12GB free and I'm just not comfortable with that. Larger windows updates put my free space in the red every other month.

Overall Review: I'd recommend going with at least the next size up even if you plan on using this for an OS drive. If possible, go with the 500GB drives, they're getting cheaper every day now that the crypto crazy is dying down. There should be some great deals this upcoming Black Friday. Even without sale, I can pickup the 500GB versions for what I paid.

Rosewill Blackbone - Surprisingly well put together4/23/2016 9:30:14 AM

Pros: -Looks sleeker than the phones give it credit. -Lots of room to work with and managed to not cut myself once while working on the inside. -Decent cable management options. -Side panels are easily removed and don't feel flimsy. -Case fan really isn't too bright. -Tool-less system was one of the easiest I've ever worked with.

Cons: -I would of liked a clear side panel but they always end up getting scratched anyway soooo.... -Could of had just another mm behind the mobo for cables but still plenty of room. I hadto work to get that back panel on. -I feel like the case fans might be the weakest point to the case. They seem slow and would of preferred 4 pin connectors.

Overall Review: My front eSATA port looks a little busted but I don't actually use it and haven't had to test it. I glossed over it entirely but there is no 2.5" internal bays so my SSD isn't secured how I would of liked until my mounting kit gets here. Depending on what you plan on throwing in here, you may want to invest in some higher quality case fans but honestly you're looking at a $40 case.

Intel Core i5-6600 6M - Can't complain4/23/2016 9:15:28 AM

Pros: -Easy to install. Took maybe 20 seconds. -Stock cooler isn't terrible as long as your case has some good ventilation. I always prefer to use a different thermal compound but that's preference. Temps settled after a few days has been running smoothly since I fired it up.

Cons: -It's not a K model and like all processors the price went down the week after I snagged one. This is the industry and don't really take way from the product if you know what you're getting. I didn't plan on overclocking my first switch over to Intel.

Overall Review: Considering I went from an AMD Phenom II X4 945 to this I was expecting a huge upgrade and wasn't disappointed. Running on a Gigabyte H170 with 8 GB of RAM and it handles most of my current steam games paired with an old 5770 (definitely the current bottleneck on my system).

Seagate Desktop HDD 2TB - Does what it does4/23/2016 9:03:03 AM

Pros: -Was the right price for what I was looking for and I've been using Seagate drives for a while alongside WD and haven't noticed any different in performance over the years. -Currently using it as the internal storage on my home PC and works great so far.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: I'd like to see HDDs come in some different color options? What's the reasoning on this? SSDs have a range. People complaining about noise need to understand that a new HDD shouldn't be making any noise you can hear over the rest of your system and not to wait 3 mo. or a year to replace that drive. That is a defect and it happens in any and all products. I went back and forth between this and the hybrid drives so we'll see how it plays out over the course of the year.

CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB)4/23/2016 8:29:36 AM

Pros: -Works as advertised and recognized by my mobo right away. Gigabyte H170 paired with an i5-6600, -Color went with my mobo and case and I plan on buying another set in red this upcoming week. -Low CAS -Cheap for DDR4 -Like most RAM, super easy to install and the heat-spreaders aren't too much at all.

Cons: -N/A -I should of just bought the larger kit from the start but that's on me.

Overall Review: -I knew what I was buying and wasn't disappointed. (Until I noticed how cheap the 16GB kits are) -Can't beat the price and I've never had an issue with any of Corsairs products.

You should know what you're doing...10/13/2013 6:45:40 AM

Pros: - It's survived through two Intel builds, one that just became outdated, and the other had a cpu cooling issue. - I've never had a heat warning or blue screen. - Easy install.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I didn't put this under cons because it's not a "con" and I knew what I was getting. This card, and all next gen cards unless stated otherwise, are large. I do think they could work on simplifying or reducing the area and power consumption, but as it stands now, it's in a HTPC case from Lian Li. Most, if not all problems associated with name brand parts (unless a DOA slipped through product control or the damage was during shipping) is due to people installing and operating them improperly. If you put a large gaming card in your 5 year old case with no air flow, it's going to run hot. That's why this card wasn't even an option when you bought your computer. When you hear people mention "after three months" or "after 6 months".... the large majority of the time, they're not cleaning their computers properly. I have a 5770 I'm using right now, a 7770 I just put into a computer yesterday, and several old small form factor and old model cards all from XFX. They will run for as long as you take care of them properly.

Great Design for HTPC8/7/2013 8:05:30 AM

Pros: -Beautiful case inside and out. Looks polished. -Plenty of space if you build it all at once. -Fits a full size graphics card, fairly certain 2 would fit in, but I'd be afraid heat might become an issue.

Cons: -Polished nature shows scuffs and dust easily. (Not a problem if you're cleanly) -Removable MB tray becomes useless due to power and case cables.

Overall Review: Make sure to get a modular psu or at least one without too many extra connections. With everything in there, the fit becomes a bit tight.

Works great1/5/2011 8:14:31 PM

Pros: It works great in my AMD system. All I do is watch HD movies on my 37" Vizio.

Cons: The HDMI port didn't register at first. An update fixed that but the picture still looks better coming out of the DVI.

Not bad10/16/2010 11:01:32 AM

Pros: HDMI output, 4 ram slots, price. Overall a pretty decent board. Easy install into a Lian Li HTPC build.

Cons: The HDMI output looks odd on my 37" HDTV.

Overall Review: I had originally bought this board with the intent of not having to buy a graphics card but it looks like I'll be getting a low profile card soon enough.

Works like it should10/16/2010 10:54:41 AM

Pros: Worked great with no tweaks, of course I actually looked into whether or not my board was compatible....

Cons: I got it on discount when I bought it in a combo but the price still went down $28 a month later.....

Overall Review: At least I can upgrade using the same ram for cheaper, which is what I had planned on doing.

Amazing1/6/2010 8:56:38 AM

Pros: - Blu-ray player. - Can install Linux. - Full HD (unlike the Wii) - Free online play. - Comes with wireless adapter. - Swappable hard drive. - PS Store with themes and older ps games. - Current titles like Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and Metal Gear Solid. - Future titles like MAG.

Cons: ...not really a con on it's own. I had originally purchased an 80gb older model back when they were $100 more....

Works Just Right3/21/2009 10:30:11 AM

Pros: -Plenty of room. -Super easy installation. -Power supply has all the connections I needed and unlike some others, mine is working great with no problems at all. (Check your power supply needs before you just go plugging things in people.) -Finish is nice.

Cons: I'd just like to say that none of these should discourage you from buying this case. -Could have maybe came with another case fan. Although not really a big deal. All temps are low... I'm just paranoid. -I have to push close my DVD drive... and that bothers me. -Case is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but with the finish, dust shows up pretty quickly.

Overall Review: I used this case to build a work computer for my dad. He was running a far outdated system and needed a new low budget computer. The case fits everything great and psu fits my needs. This isn't a super high end case and I'm not sure how cool it would keep a gaming rig. Just do your research. This case was part of a pretty low budget ($400) build and it works great for its purpose. Dual core AMD 4 gigs of ram 250GB HDD DVD burner Card reader 64 bit XP

4/11/2008 8:52:32 PM

Pros: Lots of space. Looks pretty.

Cons: I don't know, do you really need to lock your computer? I mean, you do know windows has that whole password thing right? The side window scratches fairly easily and that beautiful high gloss finish looks horrible after you smudge it all up. Didn't really keep my system cooler than my last case. Also, my motherboard and psu weren't fun to get in there with that annoying crossbar.

Overall Review: For the price, eh, I guess I probably would have went with something else.

Does what it should.4/11/2008 8:43:34 PM

Pros: Well, it works. Hasn't died. It took a minute or two to get it all ready to go. I've moved it from computer to computer carefully and well hey, it works. It was under $100 and I can back up any files that I'm worried about losing.

Cons: If I leave my computer on at night, the light can be annoying. But seriously, if a little white light is the worst problem, then you should be tap dancing happy.

I miss my metal....9/2/2007 8:18:05 PM

Pros: The color is beautiful and the sound is really nice. All the menus are quick to respond. The front is just so pretty.

Cons: The back is plastic... the old ones, while not color, or nearly as awesome, were 100 times more durable, I already have a crack in mine.

Overall Review: I take it everywhere and use mine a lot more than the average person. So don't really worry about the durability issue unless you're cliff jumping or something.

Nice, just not flawless8/22/2006 6:10:33 AM

Pros: Side panel is easy to remove and replace. Lots of room for everything you could possibly need. The dust filter on the front keeps out a ton of dust.... and well, it looks awesome.

Cons: Fan on the side panel was a joke, I replaced it almost imediatly. The hard drive bays are a little flimsy , in fact, the entire case is a little flimsy so don't try to man handle it. I wish the door would open in the other direction. The side clear panel is really easy to scratch.

Overall Review: I'd buy it again.

Overall Review: I bought these two sticks months ago and wanted to buy another set but newegg hasn't has any more in.

could have been better9/14/2005 12:09:39 PM

Comments: My only real complaint is the door. I like the fact that it's solid and locks, but the direction that it opens is somewhat akward. It's a great case, I had some problems getting my Motherboard in but that was my fault. Ah, the side window gets scratched easily so careful of that. Installing everyting else was simple enough.
