LOADING...
The Black Box XR HDMI and IR Extender is a wired AV extender that carries 1080p video and IR signals over Cat6 cable for distances up to 328 feet, making it suitable for classrooms, meeting rooms, or other setups where a display is far from its source.
Recommended For
- AV installers setting up a 1080p digital-signage display can use one CAT5e/6 cable run to carry video and audio up to 328 feet, with IR control for the source device at the screen.
- Schools, meeting rooms, and training spaces with a projector or display far from the AV source can use it to extend an uncompressed 1080p HDMI signal over a single CAT5e/6 cable.
- Home-theater owners who keep a cable box or other HDMI source in a cabinet or separate room can use the extender to send its picture to a remote display and carry IR commands back to the source.
- Installers working with an existing point-to-point CAT5e/6 run can extend HDMI without installing software or drivers, making it suitable when a long HDMI cable run is impractical.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- For digital signage with a player stored away from the screen, the extender sends HDMI video and audio over one CAT5e/6 cable run, reducing the need for a long HDMI cable and extra cabling behind the display.
- When a source device is in another room from a TV or monitor, someone at the display can use the included IR receiver and emitter to send remote-control commands back to that source.
- In a meeting or training room, the transmitter can stay near the video source while the receiver sits by a distant display or projector, carrying the picture and sound over a single CAT5e/6 cable run.
- At a reception desk or information display, staff near the screen can use a compatible remote to adjust a source device located out of sight, avoiding the need to access the equipment directly.
- For a remote display where an appropriate CAT5e/6 cable route is already available, the extender can use that cable run for the HDMI link; the cable is serving as the extender connection, not as a general-purpose network connection.
