I'm confuse. This looks like a Standalone 1:2 USB drive duplicator. are there six slots?

Only 3 slots. Put master in one, blanks in the other 2. Hit a button, it dups. This sits on receptionists desk and she creates our catalog thumb drivesb that we mail out. Very simple, cheap and quick.

Will this work with a USB hard drive too?

No, just Sata connected drives.

Must the source and destination drive match or can they be different? (total size / brand etc)

The only drives that are preferred to be matched are those within the array itself, as with any raid array.
