Good speed, questionable build quality.

Corsair Force LS 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GBLSB/RF2 - Certified Refurbished
Corsair Force LS 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GBLSB/RF2 - Certified Refurbished

Pros: -Near advertised read/write speeds -Small, lightweight, and cheap

Cons: -Showing defects/signs of failure after the first couple weeks, but has survived 3 months so far -Unclear warranty

Overall Review: I've noticed a few worrying things, namely: - Either there is no temperature probe, or a malfunctioning one - Readings show it hotter than any other hard drive in the system, despite drawing less power and being positioned in the path of an intake fan, but the actual temp value doesn't seem to change after the first read. - On occasion, the system will crash and upon immediate reboot the system will not detect that anything is plugged into the drive's SATA port. Leaving the system off for a few minutes seems to fix the issue. I haven't extensively checked if it's the port, cable, or drive at fault, nor do I know for certain that it's not related to the above temperature issue, aside from the fact that it happens more often when the system is idle than at load. Happens very infrequently, to the point it's a small nuisance rather than a reason to return it. I can't tell if Corsair actually backs this beyond the 30 days listed on this page - their site's warranty terms don't say much about refurbished products. It'd be pretty telling if they really only guaranteed a 30-day lifespan for a drive that's already past its first life. Overall, it works, and does the job; for the most part I'm satisfied with its performance, but if you can find something more reliable for the same price I'd hardly recommend this.

Design flaws, false advertising, and poor quality control

SAMA Sama-S88-BK Black ATX Mid Tower USB3.0 Computer Case w/3 x 120mm Fans (Pre-Installed)
SAMA Sama-S88-BK Black ATX Mid Tower USB3.0 Computer Case w/3 x 120mm Fans (Pre-Installed)

Pros: - Compact, lightweight - Fits a full ATX board - Carrying handle and adjustable mesh over top fan cutouts - Plenty of preinstalled fans - Cutouts for cable management and backplate adjustment/installation

Cons: - Despite the listed product specs, featured images, and multiple reviews, this model apparently only includes metal panels these days - no windowed side panel. Not really sure why Newegg allows this rather than forcing a new listing. - Claiming that the case has multiple 2.5"/3.5" drive bays is misleading at best, and more realistically an outright lie. There's one removable 2.5"/3.5" mounting tray crammed between the PSU bay and bottom front fan - whether or not you can even use it depends largely on how much space your PSU and cables take up. The barebones, single-sheet manual also shows a number of other places where drives can be bolted down, but none of these are dedicated spaces for drives and depend on a number of factors such as cable routing, fan installations, and even motherboard form factor. - Management for certain cables is tricky due to cutout placements and the semi-enclosed PSU bay. I had to do an uncomfortable amount of stretching to get the CPU power cables plugged in as they're right on the top edge of my board, and the cutouts force the cables to take some detours. - Two of the three pre-installed fans had a nasty rattle right out of the box.

Overall Review: Other thoughts: - The listed maximum PSU length of 150mm seems to be inaccurate - I've currently got a 160mm modular PSU installed and could probably comfortably fit a 170-175mm unit in before the drive tray gets in the way. However, a larger PSU - especially a non-modular one with a bunch of unnecessary cables - will make it harder to use the drive tray as intended. - While another reviewer mentioned getting one working, I wouldn't really bank on a top-mounted 240mm radiator being viable. When I was first piecing everything together it looked like my Thermalright Frozen Notte would fit, if only barely, but ultimately the CPU power cable plugs made it impossible, and I had to make do with a ~150mm tower cooler instead. --- As much as I wanted to like this case, I think there's too many compromises to call it a good or even decent budget buy, especially since it was quietly downgraded with the removal of the tempered glass panel. The overall build process was frustrating as I had to try multiple different cable routes just to try accommodating the one non-NVME drive I wanted to bring over before giving up, and hearing multiple fans wheezing on first boot didn't help my mood any - although in fairness, the one that actually works is quiet enough. There's slightly less airflow compared to the case it's replacing, but the resulting temperature difference as far as I've tested is negligible - 1-2C warmer at worst.

Great sticks, as long as you can enable the XMP.

Neo Forza FAYE 16GB (2x8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) SDRAM Desktop Memory Model NMUD480E82-3200DG20

Pros: No issues running at the advertised 3200Mhz speed after enabling the XMP. Decent latency, heatsinks aren't the most obtrusive I've worked with.

Cons: Default JEDEC speed is 2400Mhz at 1.2V. That's not as bad as it could be, although it's not as good as it could be either.

Overall Review: If you're looking for RAM for a machine without XMP support (perhaps a locked-down prebuilt without options for it in the BIOS), or want to pair these with RAM that only runs properly at 1.2V (why?), it's probably best to treat these as DDR4-2400 sticks unless you plan on reusing them in another setup further down the line. The heatsinks aren't the most unwieldy I've seen, but they also seem fairly flimsy. We'll see how they hold up over time, I guess.

All the features you'd want from a B460 board

GIGABYTE B460M DS3H AC-Y1 LGA 1200 Intel B460 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard, With I/O Backplate

Pros: - BIOS has plenty of customization options, not at all locked down - Wireless card included, as well as antennas - 4x RAM slots

Cons: - Only one M.2 SSD slot - Only two headers for case fans - Only HDMI for onboard video output - One of the RGB headers was damaged prior to being shipped - bent pins, but no wear marks around them on the antistatic shipping bag. Probably missed during the 'refurbishing' process.

Overall Review: Overall, it's still a solid board despite the form factor limiting the amount of on-board connections. BIOS has options for tweaking preferred CPU and RAM power and speed settings, etc. in addition to standard boot and security settings. I would've strongly preferred an extra case fan header in place of the RGB nonsense, but that's a personal peeve more than an actual shortcoming. The AC-Y1 boards seem to have been designed for or ripped from prebuilt machines, as they aren't compatible out-of-the-box with the standard DS3H AC BIOS. It seems like it's possible to cross-flash the BIOS from the standard B460M DS3H AC (but probably not the V2 version) from Windows with a bit of tweaking, but I'd strongly advise reading up thoroughly on the process before trying it. This might be necessary for WIndows 11's security features, but in my testing on the stock AC-Y1 BIOS (version F2) I've been able to run Windows 10, Linux, and macOS without issue. As this is a B460 board, no BIOS updates will allow you to use 11th-gen Rocket Lake CPUs. It's a bit of a moot point now that 12th-gen CPUs using a whole new socket have hit the market, but it might be worth keeping in mind if you think you might want to upgrade later.

Three months in, no issues

Rosewill Glacier Series, Glacier 850M, 850W Semi-Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Silent Aero-Diversion Fan with Auto Fan Speed Control, Single +12V Rail, SLI & CrossFire Ready, Black

Pros: Good price (paid about $40 after rebate) Plenty of power for a mid-range/lower-high-end gaming rig Good sturdy cables, everything you need probably included Quiet

Cons: Only partially modular Cables are thick and somewhat inflexible Three months between purchase and rebate

Overall Review: I'll admit I'm not an expert on power supplies, so I have no idea how well it's actually performing at a technical level. I can put my system at full load (around 600w) for hours with no issues, no loud noise or apparent excessive heat. No signs of early failure, but then there rarely are. Overall I'm more than satisfied with the performance:price ratio. The cables have a black sheathing and are a bit stiff, so if you need to keep them low-profile or in tight spaces you might have some issues.

As good as you'll find if you know what you're getting.

Gigabyte GP-S4600 1 w Speakers
Gigabyte GP-S4600 1 w Speakers

Pros: These sound great, as far as $7 pairs of speakers go. For that price at a retail outlet you might find something that sounds like a loud pair of headphones from a distance. USB-powered means no outlets taken up, and the 3.5mm input means you're not limited to just the PC like some USB speakers. Cord length hasn't been an issue.

Cons: At the price you can hardly call it a con, but obviously these aren't high-quality speakers. Expect your audio to sound good at normal volumes, but it'll never be mindblowing, and there's distortion at higher volume settings. As others have mentioned, the LED is excessively bright, to the point where in a dimly lit room it's hard to find the headphone jack.

Overall Review: I bought these for my Xbox 360, which at the time had been hooked up to the truly horrendous built-in speakers of my monitor. I wasn't expecting much out of these, but I needed something while I save up for a better sound system. Despite being rated as 1w stereo speakers like the monitors, it feels like a bit of effort was put into these. The USB port on the back of the 360 provides power nicely, and both music and gaming sound good at the right volume.
