MAX Speed Go 4 It!

Corsair MP600 PRO XT M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F1000GBMP600PXT
Corsair MP600 PRO XT M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F1000GBMP600PXT

Pros: Impressive beefy heat sink ensures excellent heat dissipation and looks great! Machines that utilize the speed of this drive with your OS installed will increase your boot rate times along with loading programs/games more quickly. For testing I cloned my OS over to this drive and it definitely increased my overall speeds compared to my previous drive! The PCIe Gen 4 NVMe standard doubles the speed compared to previous versions of PCIe Gen 3 NVMe. Just make sure your board supports it if you want to get the full speed out of this drive. The Corsair MP600 PRO XT is backwards compatible with PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe but will only give you half the rated speed. So, if you are still running a motherboard with PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe and need to upgrade your current storage this drive will work fine and can be swapped over when you upgrade to a newer mother board. Verified by testing on a spare Gen 3 machine. If your motherboard has integrated M.2 NVMe heat-sinks that are removable and you are confident in your boards cooling capacity you can remove the preinstalled heat sink and install the drive utilizing your boards existing M.2 heat sink. Corsair provides a link on their product information page with detailed instructions for how to remove the preinstalled heat sink. Which they state will not void your warranty unless the components are damaged!

Cons: Some boards with multiple M.2 2280 slots may not be able to use the preinstalled heat sink if the GPU is directly over one of the slots. But this is easily remedied by moving the drive to another free slot.

Overall Review: An excellent choice and good price if you have a newer board that fully supports PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe! 5-year warranty! Current Firmware is EIFM31.4 out of the box no update was needed when checked with Corsair SSD toolbox at the time of my install.

Works Fine After A Forced Firmware Update!

BUFFALO LinkStation 421e Diskless Enclosure High Performance RAID NAS Personal Cloud Storage and Media Server - LS421DE
BUFFALO LinkStation 421e Diskless Enclosure High Performance RAID NAS Personal Cloud Storage and Media Server - LS421DE

Pros: Works great once the firmware is updated! See what I wrote under CONS on how to fix the Emergency Mode issue, it’s fairly simple for this unit if it’s only the firmware that needs updating! I tested this unit on a fully updated Windows 7 system with SMB2 Protocol enabled in the Link Station. The User Interface is very easy to use, with most options to make changes being as simple as a click to turn features on and off once they are set up. Under the Services Tab you must enable what you plan on using, as they are off by default. Once the DLNA Server was enabled, videos that I had uploaded to the shared folder were readily available to all my DLNA TV sets and devices within my home network. Streaming works perfectly with no stuttering or lag. Make sure you have DLNA turned on for the folder you have your videos in. The Web Access User interface through a browser works great. Web Access Setup is not very difficult. You can set it up for your home network so that you can access the Link Station from anywhere. I tested access with a browser and it worked fine with a Windows Phone, and an Android Tablet. I could view, download and upload through the browser interface which was quick to load on the home network or through DSL from elsewhere with both Firefox and IE. Right clicking on folders/files while using browser gives drop down list of options, very simple to use. Remember to set port forwarding up in your router if you use this feature outside of your home network! When a USB memory stick or portable drive is connected, you have the options to format the device with XFS, ext3, or Fat 32 (depending on the size) with an option to select GPT partitions. The USB drive can then be shared and mapped along with whatever other hard drives you may have installed in the unit, everything here worked great. Nice feature for portable drives as you can plug in and transfer whatever you like, then simply unplug and take with you. Transfer rate with files using an FTP program within my home network gives a fluctuating speed from 200mbps to 300mbps when uploading to the shared folders, when downloading with an FTP program I have speeds around 700mbps down. Transfer rates when the drives are mapped is a lot slower at 20mbps to 40mbps for uploading and a slightly increased speed when downloading back to my machine. The Android Smart Phone Navigator App works as it should, you can run the entire setup process of the Link Station just by using this App, and it will allow you to change or modify any of your settings from a remote location if need be. I tested this on my tablet running ICS 4.1.

Cons: First try at setting up I ran the software and it showed the unit in Emergency Mode! The supplied Link Navigator software would not let me see what version of firmware was installed because of being in Emergency Mode. There is a fairly simple solution for this problem if you go to Buffalo’s site and click on the Forums Tab, then go to the Storage thread, there you will find detailed instructions under ”FAQ (2 of 5): Force Firmware update procedure”. Follow the instructions under the Newer Models section. A simple modification to the “LSUpdater.ini” file took care of the problem in my case, and I was then able to view the firmware version which was version 1.01-0.53. I was then able to update to the newer version of firmware which is 1.11-0.68. After this forced update everything worked fine. While using FTP programs is fast to transfer files, there appears to be a bug, once the files have been uploaded through an FTP program, they will not show the correct size in any FTP program, and I tried several, but if you use your mapped drive link, the correct file size is shown. This appears to happen with any file that is over 4 GB. This may be something I am doing wrong, or a minor problem, so I contacted Buffalo Tech support, asking for help about this problem with the FTP programs showing incorrect file size on uploaded files over 4gb. I sent a request through their web site, and received a generic message that they had received my email and would get back to me. I also sent an email to the rep that has posted responses in this feedback section with the same questions. That was 8 days ago, and I still have not heard back from either of them. I understand that sometimes tech support can be overwhelmed, but it’s kind of ridiculous that so much time has passed with no response. Do not expect to get a reply in a timely manner through email support if you have any problems.

Overall Review: Like I mentioned before, the unit does work great once the updated firmware is installed, but the troubleshooting you must do to correct the firmware issue just to get the unit working is not worth the trouble, especially when someone purchased it because they NEED it now. Maybe on future units they will have updated this firmware before they ship them out. People expect products to work out of the box; they should not be expected to force a firmware update just to make the device work. Some users may be intimidated by this and skip over this product because of this problem. If you receive one of these units with the old firmware, and you don't mind attempting the update yourself, EXPECT to do some reading on how to force the firmware update just to get the unit working properly! It will work fine with the newest version installed. My rating of three eggs is due to the firmware issue out of the box, and also for the lack of tech support that they advertise. I tried two different ways to contact them, and have heard nothing for 8 days! Warranty on Newegg for this Link Station shows a 1 year, but on Buffalo’s site it shows up as a 3 year warranty? Clarification on what the actual warranty is would be nice on this, maybe just a mistake?.

Crucial Pro for the WIN!

Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6400 (PC5 51200) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G64C38U5B
Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6400 (PC5 51200) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G64C38U5B

Pros: Great value for 32GB at 6400MHz for DDR5! I had absolutely no problems running them at the advertised speed of 6400 MT/s and they are 100% stable on my Intel 14600k with an Asus motherboard. Make sure that you go into your bios and turn on XMP to enable getting the maximum speed that this RAM will deliver. Excellent choice for overclocking if thats your preference but runs fine even when running at the stock speed! This Crucial memory supports next-gen multi-core CPUs and stable overclocking with Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO.

Cons: None for me!

Overall Review: I have been using Crucial memory for years and I have never had a bad stick or a failure! At this price its worth buying a couple sets to maximize the memory that is available for your system! If you have no need for RGB lights then this memory is a perfect choice for your builds! While its capable of being overclocked, I prefer to run everything at the recommended speeds for maximum reliability.

Sleek Looking Mini-ITX Case

CORSAIR iCUE 2000D RGB AIRFLOW Mini-ITX PC Case - Black - Mini-ITX Form-Factor - Steel Mesh Panels iCUE Lighting Node CORE Controller
CORSAIR iCUE 2000D RGB AIRFLOW Mini-ITX PC Case - Black - Mini-ITX Form-Factor - Steel Mesh Panels iCUE Lighting Node CORE Controller

Pros: Lots of options depending on how much you want to trick out this mini case. Vertical mounted GPU will support a video card length up to 365mm! While it may be a mini case you can fully utilize a nice beefy video card! Radiator sizes supported are 120mm, 140mm, 280mm and 360mm. Corsair has a bunch of models to choose from depending on your budget that will work in this case. Just be sure to read the tech spec so you know which particular Corsair cooler models will fit in this case. Front and left/right sides have a nice mesh that also has a screen behind the mesh for extra dust filtering. Rear screen is magnet mounted for easy removal/cleaning. Bottom filter is plastic and snaps out for cleaning. Top cover is attached with magnets for easy removal if you need to quickly remove power cord for any reason, or to install/upgrade a top mounted 2.5-inch SSD. 3 internal 2.5 drive bays for SSD expansion if you need extra storage space!

Cons: No way to remove the screen mesh from behind the left/right/front covers to properly clean when it gets clogged with dust.

Overall Review: If your limited on desk space, or just want a smaller PC case that can still pack a punch for gaming this is the way to go! With all the cooling options and RGB fans that Corsair offers this is a nice way to showcase Corsair gear for those who like everything to match! While they recommend using an SFX power supply there are many other options that will fit in this case and work just fine.

Super Speeds + PlayStation 5 Compatible!

Crucial T500 2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 Internal Gaming SSD, Up to 7400MB/s, laptop & desktop Compatible + 1mo Adobe CC All Apps - CT2000T500SSD8
Crucial T500 2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 Internal Gaming SSD, Up to 7400MB/s, laptop & desktop Compatible + 1mo Adobe CC All Apps - CT2000T500SSD8

Pros: Not just for computers, this drive can also be used to expand storage on PS5! Great value, 5 year warranty!

Cons: No complaints from me!

Overall Review: Motherboards that support PCIe 4.0 NVMe will utilize the speed this drive offers with your OS installed and will increase your OS boot rate times along with loading games/programs much more quickly. PCIe 4.0 NVMe doubles the speed compared to previous versions of PCIe Gen 3 NVMe. Just make sure your board supports it if you want to get the full speed out of this drive. If you are buying this SSD to expand your internal storage in a PlayStation 5 you will want to order the version of the T500 that comes with the heat-sink! Make sure your PS5 has all the latest system updates. These will allow you to unlock the expansion bay and install the Crucial T500 NVMe SSD. Installation instructions for the PS5 can be found on the Crucial website in the support section. PCIe Gen 4 is backward compatible and when connected to a PCIe Gen 3 system will function normally at PCIe Gen 3 speeds. That means if you purchase a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD today, you can use it immediately in your current system even if it does not support PCIe Gen 4. Verified by testing on a spare Gen 3 machine. If your motherboard has integrated M.2 NVMe heat-sinks and you are confident in your boards cooling capacity you will not need the heat sink version. Also make sure that you have a thermal pad installed between the heat-sink and the SSD on your motherboard! Crucial provides excellent information on their T500 support page with detailed installation instructions and videos. They cover installation with the heat-sink or without the heat-sink. They also offer an Optimization and Update utility for 64-bit systems.

Decent memory- Works great!

Crucial Pro 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G4DFRA32A
Crucial Pro 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CP2K16G4DFRA32A

Overall Review: Tested on my MSI MEG Z490 ACE motherboard and it works fine. Low voltage of 1.20 will keep things somewhat cool unless overclocking but not really a big deal. If upgrading from slower/older RAM you will be very happy with the increased speed and performance from this Crucial memory! If you are considering purchasing this memory kit its well worth it to spend a little more and get the 2x32 Crucial Pro 64GB kit if your board will support it, much better price for more RAM! While the CAS Latency is 22 it will work fine for most games. Serious/heavy gaming needs RAM that will not create bottlenecks, so you may want to look into kits that are 3600MHz / CL18 or 3200MHz / CL16 if you are looking for something a bit higher performance wise depending on your needs and budget. Be sure to enable XMP in your system bios to utilize the full speed this RAM offers or your system will run the memory at the default slower speed!
