The StarTech.com HDMM35 is a 35-foot HDMI male-to-male cable for connecting HDMI-equipped devices across longer distances, making it suitable for laptop-to-projector setups and other installations that need extra cable reach, with support for resolutions up to 4K x 2K.
Recommended For
- Home-theater users routing a source to a projector or TV about 35 feet away, when their setup uses standard HDMI and does not require 4K above 30 Hz.
- Presenters or classroom and meeting-room users who need a long, direct HDMI connection from a laptop to a projector or display for slides and video.
- Owners of compatible older projectors, such as the BenQ and Epson models listed for this cable, who need a long HDMI run for everyday viewing or presentations.
- Users connecting 1080p equipment across a room who want one cable to carry both digital video and audio without adding a separate audio lead.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a classroom or meeting room, connect an HDMI-equipped laptop at the presenter’s desk to a projector across the room; the long run can keep the laptop near the presenter while sending video and audio to the display.
- In a home theater with a 1080p projector mounted away from the media cabinet, connect an AV receiver or video source to the projector; community reports suggest long HDMI runs are commonly used this way for 1080p viewing.
- For a fixed projector setup, route the cable along a wall or ceiling trim between the media cabinet and projector; this avoids placing the source beside the projector, though the cable run should be checked with the intended devices and video format.
- Connect a Blu-ray or DVD player, game console, or set-top box to a TV, projector, or AV receiver when the equipment is spread across a room; the single HDMI connection carries the compatible device’s video and audio.
- Use it for a 4K connection only after confirming the source, display, and cable run work together at the desired resolution and refresh rate; the product is marketed for up to 4K × 2K, but long-run community reports show that results can vary by setup.
