Reviews
Welcome to the PowerShot V1, a powerful video-first camera with all the features you are looking for content creation, in an all-in-one design. This new sleek design features an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, advanced autofocus, a built-in cooling fan, and impressive stabilization. The PowerShot V1 will let you focus on your creativity without worrying about time limits getting in the way of your videos.
The Lens
The PowerShot V1 is equipped with an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that is equivalent to a 17-52mm lens for Full Frame cameras (16-50mm when taking still photos) with an aperture range of F2.8-11 at the wide-angle setting, making it ideal for vlogging without the worry about changing lenses. A built-in 3-stop ND filter is available, for bright outdoor lighting conditions, so you are ready to shoot, wherever you are.
Get Up Close
Capture subjects in large detail by focusing down to 5.9 inches. This enables richly expressive close-up shots using the wide angle of view and bokeh that a wide-angle lens can provide. The Sensor
Larger than the sensors typically found on compact cameras, the newly designed 1.4-type CMOS sensor, has 22.3 megapixels for still images (18.7 megapixels for video), giving you enhanced image quality which provides a shallower depth of field, better light performance, improved Dynamic Range and greater ISO performance.
Keeping it Cool
The PowerShot V1 features a cooling fan to keep internal components frm getting too hot, allowing for unlimited continuous shooting at 4K60P. The fan pulls heat from the sensor and vents it out the side to prevent overheating, which extends recording times and ensures consistency during long shoots.
Video
This camera is focused on the video content creator, and it shows with oversampled and uncropped options for both 1080 and 4K30 for enhanced sharpness and detail. It also offers cropped 4K60, providing clarity and smoothness of 4K resolution at 60fps, with an approximate crop factor of 1.4x. For more advanced users, the PowerShot V1 also has Canon Log 3, allowing you to record movies with a wide dynamic range and 10-bit color depth, starting at a base speed of ISO 800.
Shooting Modes
Since this camera was created around the idea of capturing video, it comes with some unique features that enhance your creations. Let's start with a close-up movie mode for displaying small objects (which the dual pixel AF II will lock onto. Of course you also have Movie IS to reduce camera shake for clear videos, and Smooth Skin Movie. You can also use the standard choices of full-auto, full manual operation, and Shutter- or Aperture-priority exposure. On top of all of this, you can even register up to 3 custom shooting modes (C1, C2, C3) for video or still shooting. In a first for PowerShot cameras, the V1 includes a switch for video or still shooting, allowing you access to all shooting modes on the mode dial.
Keep it Steady
Your videos will look even more professional with both lens optical IS and Movie digital IS functions from our EOS mirrorless cameras, working separately or together to provide fantastic image stabilization. Even if you're walking while shooting, your footage will look natural and steady.
We've also introduced Subject Tracking Image Stabilization, which prioritizes stabilization at the subject's location when it's off-center.Selfie Service
Chances are that you will be capturing a lot of yourself, so we have included features to make that experience even better, like a flip out LCD so you can see yourself in front of the camera. A tally light has been added to the front of the camera so you know when it is recording. Even the grip has been redesigned to be better held from the front utilizing your thumb for stability and to control the tilt

LOADING...
The Canon PowerShot V1 is a compact 22.3MP digital camera with 3.1x optical zoom and a 3-inch touchscreen, suited to everyday photographers who want detailed photos and straightforward on-camera controls.
Recommended For
- Solo vloggers filming themselves at arm’s length who want a wide view, a flip-out screen, and face-tracking autofocus to stay in frame.
- Creators recording longer tutorials, interviews, or livestreams who want a compact setup with active cooling and video-focused recording features.
- Travel and social-content makers who want one carryable camera for wide-angle travel footage, vlogs, and casual still photos.
- Video creators who plan to color-grade footage or monitor recorded audio and want creator-oriented tools in a fixed-lens camera.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- For solo travel or day-in-the-life vlogs, users can film themselves at arm’s length and monitor framing on the flip-out screen; face tracking helps keep the speaker in focus while walking or talking to camera.
- For sit-down YouTube videos, interviews, or product demonstrations, users can record with an external microphone and monitor sound through headphones; the built-in fan is intended to help with longer recording sessions, though continuous 4K recording can still be limited by heat or battery life.
- For city breaks and everyday travel photos, users can carry one compact camera for wide street scenes, indoor snapshots, and nearby portraits; the built-in zoom is convenient, but it has limited reach for distant subjects.
- For travel clips and casual handheld footage, users can record themselves and nearby surroundings without assembling a separate lens setup; stabilization helps steady footage, while stronger digital stabilization can crop the frame.
- For short slow-motion clips of everyday activities, users can switch to Full HD high-frame-rate recording; this suits brief moments better than fast action that needs extensive panning, where 4K footage can show skewing during quick movement.
