The IOGEAR GCS1524TAA4C is a four-computer, dual-display secure KVM switch with DisplayPort/HDMI combo connections, audio, and CAC support, suited to security-conscious workstations that need to share a keyboard, mouse, and two displays while keeping connected systems isolated.
Recommended For
- Operators who must switch one keyboard, mouse, and two monitors among up to four computers while keeping systems separated for security-sensitive work.
- Government, defense, healthcare, financial, or other regulated-workstation users who need a secure KVM with CAC or supported smart-card authentication.
- Users managing several computers with a mix of DisplayPort and HDMI connections who want to share a dual-monitor console without separate video adapters.
- Workstation users who need to switch between multiple systems using physical port buttons or an optional wired remote selector rather than keyboard shortcuts.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- At a government or other security-sensitive workstation, an operator switches one keyboard, mouse, and two monitors among up to four isolated computers; the selected computer becomes the active console without sharing the workstation peripherals across systems.
- When users need to authenticate to different connected systems with a CAC or smart-card reader, they can switch the reader along with the selected computer; the reader connects through the KVM’s dedicated CAC path.
- At a dual-monitor desk used for work across separate networks, the operator switches systems using the front-panel button or an optional remote selector, keeping both displays and the shared keyboard and mouse on the selected system.
- In an office with a mix of DisplayPort- and HDMI-equipped computers, users can connect compatible video cables to the switch’s combo inputs and share the same two-display console, avoiding video adapters for those connections.
- At a shared workstation where users need speaker audio from the active computer, the switch can route supported analog speaker audio with the selected system; digital audio conversion is not supported.
