Question 1

SanDisk Portable SSD 2TB vs. SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 2TB: which should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Choose the SanDisk Portable SSD if its rated read speed of up to 800MB/s, 2TB capacity, two-meter drop protection, and rubber hook meet your needs. Choose the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD if you want higher rated transfer speeds—up to 1,050MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write—and IP65 water and dust resistance with up to three-meter drop protection. The Extreme’s rated speeds are higher; actual transfer speeds depend on the host device and usage.

Question 2

SanDisk Portable SSD 2TB vs. Samsung T7 Shield 2TB: which is better for travel?

Accepted Answer

For travel where water and dust resistance or faster rated transfers matter, choose the Samsung T7 Shield: it is rated for up to 1,050MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write, and has an IP65-rated enclosure. Choose the SanDisk Portable SSD if its two-meter drop protection and built-in rubber hook for attaching it to a bag or belt suit your carrying needs. Both are portable USB-C SSDs; the SanDisk is rated for up to 800MB/s read.

Question 3

SanDisk Portable SSD 2TB vs. Crucial X9 2TB: which is better for file transfers?

Accepted Answer

Choose the Crucial X9 if you prioritize a higher rated sequential read speed: up to 1,050MB/s, compared with up to 800MB/s for the SanDisk Portable SSD. Choose the SanDisk if its rubber hook is useful for carrying or attaching the drive. Both manufacturers specify drop protection up to two meters. Peak rates are specifications, not guaranteed transfer speeds; the host connection and workload affect results.

Question 4

Is this 2TB SSD suitable for travel and everyday backups?

Accepted Answer

It is designed for portable file storage and backups, with 2TB capacity, a rubber attachment hook, and up to two-meter drop protection. The listed protection is for drops; the product information does not claim water resistance. Question 5

Will it work with both Windows and Mac computers?

Accepted Answer

Best Buy’s Q&A for this model confirms Windows and Mac use. The retailer also notes that the drive is supplied formatted as exFAT for cross-platform use; reformatting may be needed for some workflows and erases existing data. Question 6

Can I connect it directly to a phone or tablet?

Accepted Answer

Possibly, but phone and tablet compatibility is not guaranteed by the supplied product details. Best Buy’s Q&A indicates that mobile use depends on the host device supporting external storage and providing enough power; check the device maker’s requirements before relying on a direct connection. Question 7

How fast is it for transferring large files?

Accepted Answer

The listed sequential read speed is up to 800 MB/s. Actual transfer speed can be lower depending on the connected device, USB port, cable, and file-transfer conditions. ([newegg.com](https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16820173638?Item=N82E16820173638))

Question 8

Is this SanDisk Portable SSD suitable for transferring 4K video files with a MacBook?

Accepted Answer

A Reddit user reports using this exact 2TB model with MacBook Pro and Air to transfer 4K drone footage. Its listed read speed is up to 800 MB/s; actual transfer speed can vary with the computer, connection, and files.

Question 9

Can I use this drive to work with files directly from an external SSD?

Accepted Answer

A Reddit user identifies the exact model as a drive they use for video editing. The product lists up to 800 MB/s read speed, but the provided specifications do not state write speed, so check performance with your workflow before relying on it for editing.

Question 10

Will it reach the advertised 800 MB/s speed?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. 800 MB/s is the listed maximum read speed, not a guaranteed transfer rate. Reddit users report lower real-world speeds on SanDisk Portable SSDs and note that the port and cable can affect results.

Question 11

Should I keep important files on this drive as my only copy?

Accepted Answer

No external SSD should be treated as the sole copy of important data. Reddit discussions include both positive ownership reports and concerns about drive failure; keep a separate backup, especially for irreplaceable files.
