If you just do basic stuff on your computer and just need a hard drive replacement for cheap this hard drive is fine. I purchased to put in an ext. case. If you want to increase the speed of your laptop go with  a ssd. You can get a lot more speed out of your laptop if you upgrade to a ssd. By the way seagate drives are the best replacement non ssd.

Could this drive be installed into a Dell Latitude e6530 laptop?

I am not familiar with that computer but I have installed quite a few drives. There are pretty much only two types of laptop drives. "IDE and SATA" The SATA is the newer. therefore if your laptop is reasonably new it should work. The SATA has two connectors, one has about 8 pins the other has about 20. The IDE has one connector with about 30 pins. Hope this helps.

Will this drive replace the Seagate MOMENTUS THIN ST500L012 drive & interface with the laptop HDD cable? I realize that this drive is 1TB, twice that of the ST500L012

First, there are no had cables on laptops as pretty much everything is hard soldered to the Mobo. But yes, it should just plug right in. You'll just need a fresh install of whatever OS you've been using.

I cannot answer the question directly.   But the drive has the same form factors as a SSD (7mm). Many. new laptops only allow 7mm HD.
