The ADATA Legend 860 is a 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 internal SSD with read speeds up to 6,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 5,000 MB/s, suited to PC users upgrading storage for faster everyday use, gaming, and file transfers.
Recommended For
- PS5 owners who want to add space for a game library: ADATA lists the LEGEND 860 as PS5-compatible, and the review tested it as a console expansion drive.
- Mainstream gaming PC builders who need a Gen4 drive for an operating system, game installs, updates, and everyday loading rather than flagship benchmark performance.
- Laptop or small-form-factor PC upgraders who need a single-sided M.2 2280 drive that fits space-constrained systems.
- Everyday PC users who mostly read data and make occasional large transfers, such as installing games or moving project files, rather than writing very large amounts continuously.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When a PS5 owner needs more room for games, the LEGEND 860 can be installed as internal expansion storage; ADATA lists PS5 support, and its compatibility material shows a game boot check passing.
- For a desktop or laptop upgrade, it can add fast internal storage for everyday apps, files, and games; a review found it suited to general-purpose use, while noting that performance depends on the system and workload.
- When expanding a PC game library, it can hold installed games and support routine game loads; it is most useful as extra capacity rather than a promise of dramatically shorter load times in every game.
- For transferring project folders or other large files, it handles typical copies briskly; during a very large, continuous write, tested performance dropped after the drive’s cache filled, so it is less suited to repeated transfers of hundreds of gigabytes at peak speed.
- When migrating a laptop to a larger or newer SSD, it can serve as the replacement drive; check the laptop’s M.2 2280 fit and installation requirements before buying.
