The StarTech.com HD2MM15MA is a 50 ft (15 m) active HDMI 2.0 cable for connecting 4K displays or projectors up to 4K at 60 Hz. Its CL2 rating suits in-wall installations in homes, classrooms, and conference rooms; install it in the correct direction, with the TV-labeled end at the display.
Recommended For
- Classrooms, boardrooms, and conference rooms that need a long, fixed HDMI run from a laptop or room system to a projector or display, including an in-wall installation.
- Home-theater setups where the source device and TV or projector are far apart and the planned run is up to 50 feet, with video requirements within HDMI 2.0’s 4K-at-60Hz and 18Gbps limits.
- Digital-signage installations that need a long, permanent connection between an HDMI player and a display, rather than a cable that is regularly moved.
- Installers planning a long cable route who can orient the cable correctly: its source end connects to the video device and its TV/display end connects to the screen.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a conference room, connect a laptop or room PC to a projector across the room; presenters can show slides and video without placing the source beside the projector.
- For a home theater with a ceiling-mounted projector, run HDMI from an AV receiver or source equipment to the projector; the long cable helps keep equipment away from the viewing area.
- For a permanent room installation, route the cable through a wall or ceiling between a media cabinet and a TV or projector, keeping the visible cable run out of the way.
- In a classroom, connect the teaching computer or presentation source to a distant projector; the setup supports showing lesson materials and video on a shared screen.
- For digital signage, connect a media player located away from the screen; the cable can carry the picture and audio to a display without putting the player beside it.
- When a game console or PC is located far from the TV, use the cable to connect it to the display; for this active, directional cable, connect the end labeled “TV” to the display.
