HORI Nintendo Switch Split Pad Compact Ergonomic Controller for Handheld Mode - Pikachu & Mimikyu Edition

The HORI Split Pad Compact Pikachu & Mimikyu Edition is a handheld controller for Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED, made for players who want a more ergonomic grip, full-size analog sticks and a D-pad, plus turbo and programmable rear buttons.

Recommended For

• Switch or Switch OLED players who spend long stretches in handheld mode and want larger controls and grips than the standard Joy-Con provide.
• Handheld players of 2D games or games that rely on directional inputs who prefer a dedicated D-pad and full-size analog sticks.
• Solo handheld players who want programmable rear buttons or turbo input for games where those functions are useful.
• Pokémon fans who want a Pikachu-and-Mimikyu design on controllers used with a compatible Switch or Switch OLED in handheld mode.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• For longer handheld sessions at home or while traveling, players who find the Joy-Con shape uncomfortable can use the Split Pad Compact’s grips and larger controls for a more gamepad-like hold; comfort will still depend on hand size and preference.
• When playing handheld action-adventure or shooter games that use both sticks for movement and camera control, players can use the larger sticks for more deliberate input than the standard Joy-Con sticks, which reviews found helpful for aiming and camera adjustments.
• For handheld 2D platformers, retro games, or other titles that rely on directional inputs, the dedicated D-pad gives players a single directional control instead of the Joy-Con’s separate directional buttons.
• During games with repeated button presses, players can assign the turbo function to automate repeated input, reducing the need to tap the same button continuously; this is intended for handheld play while the pads are attached to the Switch.
• When a game has a frequently used action, players can map it to one of the rear buttons so it is reachable while holding the console; this can make a repeated input easier to access without moving a thumb from the main controls.
