Depends on the laptop. There are a number of factors. Does the laptop have an m.2 slot? Does the the bios blacklist cards not approved by the manufacturer? Along with a bunch of other technical whooha. The general answer is it can depending on the laptop. Now if you are wanting to know if it will work in your laptop your gunna need to provide more detail about the laptop like make and model.

Will this Intel 8265 wifi adaptor work with a Dell Inspiron 15-7579 laptop?

Most Laptops have the capability to host this adapter.  you may have to get a bit creative to add an extra antenna cable like I did for my Inspiron.  If your laptop has 802.11n dual frequency capability now then you probably won't have to add the antenna.  I ran the cable under the motherboard and placed the antenna in a cavity next to the subwoofer and speakers.  Works just fine.

Will this Intel 8265 wifi adaptor work in a Dell Inspiron 15-7579?

Inspiron 2-in-1-laptop service manual indicates a factory wireless an Intel ac-3165 m.2 card being used. I have successfully used both Intel's AC 3160/5 series and 8260/5 series m.2 cards interchangeably on a few PC's. Contact Dell Community about ANY proprietary wireless m.2 drivers they may use. The Intel m.2 wireless card uses IPEX-MHF4 coaxial antenna connectors. Proper alignment of these two (very tiny) snap on antenna connectors is critical. Suggest they be snapped on BEFORE slotting the m.2 board into PC's motherboard. Otherwise, you may wreck them.

I got an ASRock A320M-DGS motherboard for my new PC. My Ethernet isn't working very well right now and I'm considering buying this card. I'm looking at the specs but I'm not sure if this board is compatible or not?

This card is meant for a laptop type config. You would actually be better off getting a usb 3.0 or 3.1 usb type device for wifl if you do not have a wired option available. my preference for simple wired thru out the house is moca if renting, since most rooms already have a cable coax in it. The M.2 on that motherboard will not be keyed the same as this device.

Is the Intel AC 8265.NGWMG Wifi card compatible with the Intel(R) Core i7-4720HQ ?   Another 3rd party vendor claims it is only compatible with 7th and 8th generation processors.  But my i7 laptop is a 4th generation CPU.   I was under the impression it would work as long as the connector is compatible.   The AC 7260 does work, but I am looking to take advantage of the MIMO and Bluetooth 4.2 upgrades of the 8265.

I've never heard of a cpu determining what wireless networking card you can use. As long as the form factor matches and the driver installs with the OS, you should be good. Check Intel's website for 100% accuracy though. I wouldn't take a tech's opinion over the phone, their expertise may not go beyond turning a computer on.

First you need to check the form factor specifications of the card currently in the computer to insure  size compatibility. Second and most important is OS and Driver compatibility find a driver online for your OS prior to making the choice on a new WiFi card.   I had to manually install a driver as none were available from Dell for my old Latitud.

Ive had both in the same laptop and i think the 65 is newer than the 60.  Both ran at the same speeds for me.

Question 9

I have a Broadcom wifi in my laptop; but the brcmsmac driver has it stalling for 15 seconds every 10 minutes or so.  Known problem, has been that way for at least 5 years, with no solution in sight.  Looking to buy something with quality FOSS drivers instead, going to try Intel (based on rumours of good drivers).

My laptop does not have room inside for a M.2 2230 wifi card, so my question to this product is:

Is this the 1216 variant (SKU 8265D2W) ?
Or is this the 2230 variant (SKU 8265NGW)?

The product specifications does not seem to mention which variant it is (and the dimensions differ radically between the two).

This is the 2230 variant.  There does appear to be 1216 version according to Intel, but I have not found a place to buy one of these.

Question 10

My new motherboard (ASUS Crosshair VI Hero), when it finally arrives will have a verticle M.2 WiFi E-key 2230 Slot.  I was considering this Intel 8265.NGWMG Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265  card. I have 2 questions would this work in this slot or would it require an adapter? And, what antenna hardware will it require? Thanks.
