Reviews (8)
The IOGEAR USB 2.0 4-Port BoostLinq Ethernet combines a USB extender and a USB hub to allow connecting as many as four USB 2.0 (and/or USB 1.1 ) devices from up to 164 feet away from your computer. Connected devices still maintain a high-speed data transfer rate of up to 480Mbps, while operating from a more convenient location. The USB 2.0 4-Port BoostLinq Ethernet converts a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 connection to RJ-45, and sends the USB data over common Cat5, Cat5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cable up to a distance of 164 feet (50 meters).

The USB 2.0 4-Port BoostLinq Ethernet is considered an active repeater, using a small power supply to amplify the USB signal and preserve the integrity of the data over long distances. The power supply also helps maintain enough current to power any connected USB devices such as webcams, hard drives, etc.

The IOGEAR GUCE64 is a USB 2.0 extender with a built-in four-port hub, letting users connect up to four USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 devices to a computer from up to 164 feet away over Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 cable. It suits workstations, offices, or setups where peripherals need to be placed at a distance.

Recommended For

  • Office, classroom, and conference-room teams that need to place USB peripherals—such as printers, scanners, or cameras—up to 164 feet from a computer over a Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 cable.
  • AV and installation users extending USB 2.0 cameras, including PTZ cameras, to a computer elsewhere in a room or building; a CommercialAV community contributor reports using the GUCE64 with PTZ and non-PTZ cameras.
  • Users who need several low-to-moderate-bandwidth USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 devices at the remote end, since the receiver combines a four-port hub with the extender.
  • Workshop or lab users who need a wired USB connection between a computer and a device across a long room; a community post describes using the GUCE64 as an option for extending USB to an X-Carve setup.
