ServSwitch CX Uno USB Remote Access Module with Audio and Skew Compensation

The Black Box ServSwitch CX Uno is a wired USB remote access module for KVM control of one computer, with audio and skew compensation; it suits IT users who need a single-computer setup with support for up to 1900 x 1440 video and WUXGA monitors.

Recommended For

• IT staff who need to operate computers connected to a ServSwitch CX Uno from a separate room, using a remote USB keyboard, mouse and VGA monitor over CATx cabling.
• Server-room or control-room teams that want console access from up to 300 m away over a suitable CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 run, without placing the operator beside the switch or servers.
• Operators using longer CATx links who need audio at the remote console and built-in RGB skew compensation to help correct color separation in the video image.
• Teams already running a compatible ServSwitch CX Uno setup who need one remote console to select and control its attached computers.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• A technician needs to operate a server from a desk outside the equipment room. Paired with a compatible ServSwitch CX Uno setup and CATx cabling, the remote module provides a USB keyboard, monitor, and mouse connection without requiring the technician to work at the rack.
• An administrator wants to reach servers located well away from the local KVM switch. With the compatible CX Uno equipment and a suitable CATx link, the remote console can be placed up to 300 metres away, allowing routine keyboard, video, and mouse control from another area.
• A local technician and a remote operator need to inspect the same connected system during troubleshooting. Both consoles can view the same output, while control passes to one user at a time, supporting a handoff without setting up a separate display at the server.
• A server or other connected system provides audio feedback that the operator needs to hear from the remote console. With compatible audio-enabled CX equipment, the remote setup can carry analog audio along with keyboard, video, and mouse signals.
• A remote VGA picture looks soft or shows colored shadows after being carried over a long CATx cable. The module’s skew adjustment can help correct color-timing differences caused by cable pairs, improving image alignment when the link and connected equipment support the feature.
