The Corsair VANGUARD 96 is a wired 96% mechanical gaming keyboard with MLX Plasma linear switches, 8,000Hz polling, a 1.9-inch LCD, and programmable G-keys. It suits gamers and streamers who want a compact layout with a numpad, customizable controls, and Stream Deck integration.
Recommended For
- PC gamers who want low-latency wired play while keeping a numpad and arrow keys on a smaller desk footprint than a conventional full-size keyboard.
- Streamers and PC users who want programmable keys for macros or Stream Deck actions, plus a rotary dial and small display for controls and personalization.
- People who split time between gaming and spreadsheet, data-entry, or other work that benefits from a dedicated numpad, but want a more compact board than full-size models.
- Programmers and frequent typists who prefer a wired mechanical keyboard with linear switches, a wrist rest, and a compact layout that retains most full-size keys.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- On a crowded gaming desk, play with a mouse while keeping arrow keys and a numpad within reach; the 96% layout retains those keys in less space than a conventional full-size board.
- In games that use opposing directional inputs for movement techniques, configure FlashTap to choose how those inputs are resolved; this can make those key combinations behave more predictably.
- For streaming or frequent app shortcuts, assign common commands to the G-keys and use Virtual Stream Deck actions; this puts controls such as scene changes or other mapped actions within a keypress.
- Use one keyboard for work and gaming when your routine includes long typing sessions, arrow-key navigation, or frequent number entry; reviewers found the typing experience smooth and the numpad useful without taking up a typical full-size footprint.
- At a PC used for both gaming and everyday media, use the rotary dial for supported controls such as volume and keep a custom image or animation on the LCD; these features add at-a-glance control and personalization, rather than replacing a separate display.
