StarTech.com LTLOCK4D Laptop Cable Lock - With Swivel Hinge - 2m / 6.5' Steel Cable - Portable 4-Digit Combination Lock - Locking Security Cable

The StarTech.com LTLOCK4D is a portable laptop security cable with a resettable 4-digit combination lock, a 2 m vinyl-coated steel cable, and a swivel hinge. It suits people securing laptops or other equipment with a Kensington K-Slot in shared workspaces, offices, or classrooms.

Recommended For

• Students and library users who want to tether a laptop with a standard Kensington K-Slot to a fixed desk or other secure object during brief study breaks.
• Office and hot-desk workers who leave a compatible laptop, dock, or monitor at a workstation and want a resettable combination instead of carrying a key.
• People working in cafés or shared workspaces who want a portable cable deterrent for short periods when they need to step away from a K-Slot device.
• IT or facilities staff securing compatible monitors, docks, projectors, or computers to a fixed anchor in offices, classrooms, or equipment areas.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• At a library or café, a user loops the cable around a fixed, heavy object and locks a compatible laptop to it; this helps deter someone from quickly walking off with the device while the user steps away briefly.
• At an office workstation, a user tethers a K-Slot laptop to a desk frame or another fixed anchor; the combination lock helps reduce casual walk-away theft without needing to keep a key with the laptop.
• At a shared desk, a user can secure a compatible dock or monitor to a fixed part of the workstation, leaving that equipment tethered between work sessions; the lock only fits devices with the matching K-Slot.
• In a classroom or training room, a presenter can tether a compatible laptop at the lectern while using it; the swivel hinge allows some movement for access, while the cable keeps the device attached to a fixed anchor.
• When moving between temporary work locations, a user can carry the lock and attach it wherever there is a suitable fixed anchor; the 2 m cable offers routing flexibility, but the device must have a compatible K-Slot and the anchor must be secure.
