The StarTech.com HDMIMM80AC is an 80 ft. active High Speed HDMI cable with male-to-male connectors and built-in signal amplification, suited to connecting HDMI devices to a display across a long distance without an external power supply.
Recommended For
- Home-theater owners routing a cable or satellite receiver, Blu-ray player, or AV receiver to a TV across a room or through a fixed installation, when the run is too long for a short HDMI cable.
- Presenters or meeting-room installers connecting a laptop or workstation to a distant projector or display for presentations, where an 80-foot HDMI run and support up to 4K at 30 Hz fit the setup.
- Users with a long-run display setup who want an active cable with built-in signal amplification and no separate power supply, rather than adding an external repeater.
- Console or PC users sending 1080p video, or 4K video at up to 30 Hz, to a display located far from the source.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a home theater, connect an AV receiver near the equipment rack to a ceiling-mounted projector across the room; compatible video and multichannel audio can travel over one long HDMI run instead of placing the receiver beside the projector.
- In a meeting room or large gathering space, run HDMI from an AV cabinet or presentation booth to a mounted projector; the long cable can carry a laptop or other HDMI source feed without leaving a cable stretched across the room.
- When a TV is mounted far from a media cabinet, connect it to a cable or satellite receiver, Blu-ray/DVD player, or AV receiver located with the rest of the equipment; compatible HDMI video and audio can reach the display over a single cable.
- For a console or PC feeding a distant projector, use the cable to avoid moving the source device next to the screen; the actual resolution and refresh rate depend on the source, display, and supported HDMI mode.
- In a classroom or presentation space, connect a fixed HDMI source at the lectern or equipment area to a distant display or projector; one cable carries the picture and audio, reducing the need to put playback equipment by the screen.
