The StarTech HDMM8 is an 8-foot HDMI 1.4 cable with male HDMI connectors at both ends, suited to connecting HDMI-equipped TVs, monitors, and other audio/video devices when you need a little extra reach.
Recommended For
- People connecting an HDMI-equipped laptop, desktop, or older media player to a TV or monitor for 1080p video, when an 8-foot cable provides enough reach.
- Home or office users linking an HDMI source to a projector for presentations or video, when the devices are within an 8-foot cable run.
- Viewers using compatible HDMI 1.4 equipment for 4K video at up to 30 Hz, such as movie playback, rather than high-refresh-rate gaming.
- Users replacing a standard HDMI-to-HDMI cable for a fixed TV, monitor, or projector setup who want an 8-foot male-to-male connection.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- Connect a desktop PC to an HDMI monitor for everyday work; the cable carries the display signal, with resolution and refresh rate depending on the computer and monitor.
- Connect a laptop to a classroom or meeting-room projector for slides or video; the 8-foot cable provides a short direct link when both devices have HDMI ports.
- Connect a laptop or desktop to a TV to show presentations, photos, or video on a larger screen; the cable carries HDMI audio and video, subject to the source and TV settings.
- Connect an HDMI set-top box or disc player to a TV for home viewing; the cable provides a direct audio/video connection, with supported picture modes determined by the connected devices.
- Connect a 4K-capable source to a UHD TV or monitor for basic 4K viewing; this HDMI 1.4 cable supports up to 4K at 30 Hz, so it is not intended for 4K at 60 Hz or higher.
