The NETGEAR Nighthawk RS700S is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router rated for combined wireless speeds up to 19Gbps, suited to homes with compatible devices and demanding gaming, 4K/8K streaming, video calls, or AR/VR use.

Recommended For

  • Households with a multi-gigabit fiber or cable plan and Wi-Fi 7 devices that can use the RS700S’s tri-band wireless and 10Gbps internet connection.
  • People in a mid-sized home who regularly run several demanding activities at once—such as online gaming, video streaming, video calls, and network file transfers—and want a single router rather than a mesh system.
  • Wireless gamers with compatible Wi-Fi 7 devices who want to use the 6GHz band and wide Wi-Fi channels for responsive play, particularly where the router can be placed relatively close to their gaming setup.
  • Home offices or small labs with one multi-gig wired device, such as a workstation or NAS, that can make use of the router’s 10Gbps LAN port.

Real-World Use Scenarios

  • When several people are streaming video, joining video calls, listening to music, or moving files on a home network at the same time, the RS700S handled a similar mix of concurrent activity in testing without reported stream interruptions.
  • In a home with Wi-Fi 7 phones or laptops and fast broadband, the RS700S can deliver high wireless throughput close to the router; actual speeds depend on the client device, internet plan, and surroundings.
  • For a multi-gig home internet connection or a wired workstation, NAS, or gaming PC, its 10Gbps ports provide a path to faster wired networking; realizing those speeds requires compatible service, equipment, and cabling.
  • For online gaming while others use the network, the RS700S can share the connection across household devices; the experience still depends on the broadband connection, Wi-Fi conditions, and distance from the router.
  • In a modest or mid-sized home, the RS700S can provide strong performance across nearby and mid-range rooms, but testing found that walls and longer distances can reduce throughput and leave dead spots in a larger home.
