The StarTech 30-foot HDMI 2.1 hybrid active optical cable is suited to installations that need a longer HDMI run with up to 48Gbps bandwidth, such as connecting high-refresh-rate displays to compatible sources.
Recommended For
- Home-theater and projector owners routing a 30-foot connection from an AV receiver or source device to a distant display, especially when they need high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 video over a long run.
- PC gamers who want to keep a desktop in one room or across the room while connecting it to a TV or monitor for high-refresh-rate play; the cable’s source and display ends must be connected in the labeled direction.
- Commercial AV installers running HDMI through ceilings, conduit, or plenum spaces where a CMP-rated cable jacket is needed and the source-to-display path can be planned before installation.
- Conference-room or media-room builders connecting high-bandwidth sources to distant displays and needing HDMI 2.1 features such as eARC or HDR, provided the connected equipment also supports those features.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a home theater, run video from an AV receiver or source rack to a ceiling-mounted projector about 30 feet away; an active optical link is suited to carrying high-bandwidth video over that distance without the occasional dropouts reported with some long, lower-grade HDMI runs.
- Connect a gaming PC or console in one room to a compatible 4K high-refresh-rate TV or monitor in another; the long HDMI run can carry a high-frame-rate gaming signal without relocating the gaming system, provided both devices support the selected resolution and refresh rate.
- Route a long HDMI connection through a ceiling or other plenum space in a home theater or commercial AV installation; the CMP-rated cable is intended for these installations, helping keep the run out of sight while connecting a source to a distant display.
- Connect a compatible TV to an AV receiver across a longer room layout and return TV audio over eARC; this can support a single HDMI connection for the video link and audio return when the TV and receiver both support eARC.
