The StarTech 50ft HDMI 2.1 hybrid active optical cable is designed for long-distance 8K-class AV connections, with up to 48Gbps bandwidth, HDR10+ and eARC; it suits home theater and display setups that need high-resolution video and advanced audio over a plenum-rated cable.
Recommended For
- Home-theater owners routing HDMI about 50 feet from an equipment rack to a TV or projector who want to carry high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 video and audio over the long run.
- AV installers running cable through ceilings, walls, or plenum spaces where a CMP-rated jacket is required and the source-to-display direction can be planned before the cable is pulled.
- PC or console gamers connecting a distant display who need a long HDMI run for supported high-refresh modes, such as uncompressed 4K at up to 144Hz, with compatible source and display hardware.
- Commercial AV teams linking a source to a remote display over a long run where reduced susceptibility to nearby electromagnetic interference is useful.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When a ceiling-mounted projector is far from an AV receiver or media player, this cable can carry video and audio across the room without placing the source equipment beside the projector; connect the marked Source end to the output device and Display end to the projector.
- For a home theater or gaming room with a PC or console in one area and a TV across the room, it provides a single-cable connection over a long distance, helping avoid moving the source device next to the screen.
- When installing a display connection through a ceiling or other plenum space, the CMP-rated jacket is intended for that type of cable route; planning the cable path and its Source-to-Display orientation before installation helps avoid having to pull it out and reverse it.
- For a PC or current-generation console connected to a distant compatible TV or projector, the cable is suited to long-run, high-refresh video setups, so the source can stay at a desk or equipment rack while the display is elsewhere.
- In a conference room or shared AV space, a source device can remain in a cabinet while the display is mounted across the room; the long cable run avoids putting a computer or player beside the screen.
