Question 1

My P.O.S. TV does not have an audio output, but instead claims the audio output is through USB port.  Would a product like this plug into that usb port and work via computer speakers being plugged into the headphone jack?  I am not sure because most of what I have been reading explains that this has software to be included with it, but I was just hoping.  Thanks.

I have yet to encounter a TV with audio out via the USB port.  The purpose of that port is usually to load or update the TV operating software.

A reason inexpensive TVs do not include audio out is the added cost of the licenses required from Dolby, DTS, etc. to process the digital audio bitstream.   For a $1000 TV, the incremental cost of the licenses is less of a concern.

So I am skeptical of the claim that your TV will output digital audio via USB, and therefore I doubt if this adapter will work as you hope.

The adapter is intended for use with a computer running an operating system that has a software driver included for it, or that can sense the adapter and download the appropriate driver software "on the fly".  I don't know of any TV that runs Windows or OSX, or that can do this natively.

Do you need to download drivers to use the SYBA SD-CM-UAUD USB 2.0 External Stereo Audio Adapter?

Windows update was able to automatically download everything needed for this to work on my PC. I didn't have to do any extra steps after plugging it in for it to start working.

Question 3

Would this work to link an old cellphone (with valuable pictures) to a PC? I have an adapter cord for the cellphone that has a stereo jack end.

If you are trying to get the pictures off the phone then no, this is not what you are looking for.  This is a USB Sound Card.

Question 4

My headphone plug broke off inside the headphone jack. Geek Squad wasn't able to remove it. Would this work in my laptop while the broken headphone plug is still "plugged in"?

I just tried this - put an earbud plug in the headphone jack and also plugged in the USB device with another set of earbuds - and it works.  So go ahead and buy it....

Question 5

Does this product work for a car stereo? I do not have an auxiliary port in my car, I just have the lighter port with USB connecters..so could I plug this up to my USB lighter port and put the aux cord in my phone to play music in my car?

I don't think so. They way I use it is to plug it into a USB port on my computer and then use the headphone/audio out jack and microphone jack as if they were on a soundcard or the jacks from integrated audio on a desktop or laptop.

You would have to connect the audio output from your phone to an aux input on a car stereo or audio system, something which you say the stereo in your car doesn't have.

Check for USB powered speakers that will accept audio output from your phone. You should be able to find something that will work so you can listen to you tunes in the car. The question is whether they will be loud enough to be heard above the road noise.

Does this have any problem with interference bleeding into the microphone input? This seems like the perfect solution for my music production on an old p.c, if the quality is there. Thanks in advance.

I never had that problem with mine, This worked great for me on my old Sony Vaio laptop. Infact better than onboard sound.

Does it work with the PS3?

I really can't say if it will work with a PS3. I had no trouble connecting it to a USB Powered hub. It worked fine but the volume is maxed out. I had to lower the volume to almost off.

Yes this works on every version of WIndows from Vista onwards and MacOS actually starting with 10.8 onwards.

Yes it is. I use it on 2 computers, both Win 7 64-bit, with no issues.

Can I use it to listen to music from my laptop to my Bluetooth speakers??

It does not provide Bluetooth capability. However most laptops now does come with blue tooth adapter. You may need to turn it on or get a Bluetooth adapter.

This is more for replacing your audio out and mic in an all laptops if they go bad or have issues.
