The Roku Streaming Stick Plus (3830R) is a compact 4K HDR streaming device for people who want to add Roku apps, free live TV, and voice control to a compatible TV; it plugs into HDMI and can draw power from the TV.

Recommended For

  • Owners of a 4K TV with a sluggish or limited built-in smart-TV interface who want a compact Roku player for streaming apps and 4K HDR viewing.
  • People with a wall-mounted TV or a crowded entertainment setup who want a streaming device that stays hidden, avoids blocking nearby HDMI ports, and can draw power from the TV’s USB port.
  • Budget-conscious 4K TV owners who mainly want straightforward access to popular streaming apps, HDR10/HDR10+/HLG video, and Roku’s free live-TV channels rather than premium home-theater features.
  • People who move between a primary home and a second TV or vacation home and want to carry one small streamer with them instead of setting up a separate device at each location.

Real-World Use Scenarios

  • When a TV’s built-in streaming apps feel outdated or are missing the services someone uses, plug in the Streaming Stick Plus to access Roku’s app interface; the picture resolution will depend on the TV and content.
  • For everyday viewing on a compatible 4K HDR TV, use it to watch supported movies and shows in 4K with HDR; the TV and the selected content must also support those formats.
  • When traveling or visiting friends, pack the small stick to use your streaming apps on another TV with HDMI; you’ll need a Wi-Fi connection, and hotel network or TV restrictions may affect setup.
  • For a wall-mounted TV or a setup with little space around it, plug the stick directly into HDMI and use the TV’s USB port for power when supported; this can keep the player and extra cables out of view.
  • For casual viewing without a paid live-TV subscription, browse Roku’s free live channels alongside streaming apps; the included remote can also handle TV power and volume on most compatible TVs.
  • For late-night watching when others are asleep, pair Bluetooth headphones and listen to the stream privately instead of playing audio through the TV.
