The StarTech 4K7012IC-EXTEND-HDMI is a 1-to-2 HDMI extender and splitter that sends 4K 60Hz video and 2-channel audio over CAT6/6a to two displays up to 230 ft (70 m) away, making it suitable for boardrooms, classrooms, digital signage, and hospitality installations.

Recommended For

  • AV installers outfitting a boardroom or classroom where one HDMI source needs to show the same picture on two remote displays over dedicated CAT6/6a runs.
  • Digital-signage or hospitality teams extending a fixed 4K 60Hz source to two screens in locations where running long HDMI cables or providing power at each receiver is inconvenient.
  • Installers who want to control a source device by IR from either remote display location and prefer a direct, no-software AV setup.
  • Facilities teams making a fixed installation where the transmitter can power both receivers over the CAT6/6a runs, reducing the need for outlets at remote display points.

Real-World Use Scenarios

  • In a boardroom, send one presentation source to two displays in different parts of the room; attendees can view the same content without placing the source beside each screen.
  • For classroom instruction, connect a presenter’s HDMI source to two remote classroom displays; both can show the same lesson or presentation, with receivers powered over the CAT6/6a runs.
  • In a shop, lobby, or other public venue, distribute one digital-signage player’s content to two screens in separate viewing areas, avoiding long HDMI cable runs between the player and displays.
  • In a restaurant or hospitality space, mirror a single HDMI source to two remote TVs so they can show the same broadcast, menu, or announcements; this setup distributes one feed rather than separate content to each screen.
  • When the HDMI source is kept in an AV cabinet or another convenient location, run CAT6/6a to displays elsewhere; IR extension can help users control the source from a receiver location, and power-over-cable avoids needing a power outlet at each receiver.
