The StarTech.com ST124HDBT is an HDMI-over-HDBaseT extender kit that sends one source to three remote displays over CAT5e or better cabling, making it suitable for digital signage, classrooms, offices, and other multi-display installations. It supports 4K at up to 115 ft. or 1080p at up to 230 ft.
Recommended For
- Digital-signage operators in schools, hospitals, arenas, shopping centers, or retail spaces who need to send one HDMI source to three displays in separate locations over installed CAT5e-or-better cable.
- Bars, hotels, and restaurants that want to distribute the same entertainment source to TVs in multiple rooms or customer areas without running long HDMI cables.
- AV installers equipping offices, classrooms, or meeting spaces that need one source displayed locally and at up to three remote screens, with the transmitter and receivers mounted out of sight.
- Installers extending a shared 4K signal to nearby displays when 4K at up to 30 Hz is sufficient, or extending 1080p displays over longer cable runs up to the product’s stated 230-foot limit.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a conference room, an IT installer sends one computer’s presentation to displays in several parts of the room; attendees can follow the same content without running long HDMI cables between each screen and the source.
- For retail or shopping-center signage, a business connects one media player to displays in different areas; the screens show the same signage content, with the source kept away from customer-facing display locations.
- In a restaurant or bar, staff can distribute one HDMI source to several TVs in different viewing areas; the same video and audio reach each connected display without placing the source beside every screen.
- For classroom instruction or staff training, an instructor sends a computer or other HDMI source to displays around the room; learners can view the same demonstration from different seating areas.
- In an office or hospitality venue with a local source and three remote display locations, the installer can show the same HDMI content locally and remotely, keeping screens synchronized for a shared presentation or information feed.
