Does this have a power button? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

The enclosure turns itself off after you eject it; there is a button that turns it back on without you having to unplug/replug.  Hope I answered your question . . .

How it can be use?
can i have to buy a hard disk and joint in it?

This is a simple enclosure only.   It accepts any 2.5" HDD/SSD.   You open the enclosure, plug in the HD, close it up, plug the cable into your USB jack on your PC and you now have an external drive.

From there you can do anything you want with it.   Clone your internal drive, use it for backups, or just extra storage.   I use it for extra storage on my laptop.

Question 3

Anyone know if this is SATA 3?  Neither Newegg specs nor the Transcend web site specify either way.

Yes it is sata 3, and doesnt require a power supply when plugged into a usb 3.0 port, i love this thing an will buy many more.

I have a 1Tb Toshiba external harddrive the casing and port broke so i took it apart for the HDD. Would this be compatible with my drive?

Depends on the size of the HDD. This is 2.5" wide and a few millimeters tall. The port is SATA and Power SATA converted to USB 3.0 which can be used outside the case

Is the Transcend Elite data management software included necessary to the operation of the device, or can you not install it?

Not necessary at all. It's plug and play. Just shows up as a regular usb drive when you plug it in. (After installing a drive in the enclosure, of course!)

Will this work with a Chromebook with a USB 3.0??

All usb 3 devices are backwards compatible with usb2.0.    Or at least I haven't found one yet that isn't.   You only get usb2.0 speed.

I have a 256g ssd drive from an Apple air (2013) sandisk 
Will this enclosure work on this drive?

I don't know why not.   The internal interface is sata and holds a 2.5" drive.   As far as I know, ssd/hd they're all the same.   I pulled my HD out of my laptop and put an SSD in there, no fix issues, and the old HD went into this case.

Hi. My car has a USB Port and it will play music right off my thumb drive. Im assuming if I get this and stick a SSD into it that it should work in theory. I understand that I have to format it as FAT32 and im more worried about power. Does the drive get enough juice when plugged into USB 2.0? The power output from USB 3.0 is now up to 900 milli amps compared to USB 2.0’s 100 milli amps so Im assuming that this doesnt work with 2.0? Thank you very much.

It is backward-compatible with USB 2.0--all USB 3.0 devices are. All USB devices run on 5V, amperage is another issue--it's hard to say whether your car supplies enough to power a HD vs a thumb drive--but I suspect it will work. 
Also, you will not be able to take advantage of the added speed USB 3.0 offers.
