ASUS Z10PE-D8WS 10/13/2019 5:41:07 PM

Pros: THIS IS A VERY WELL DESIGNED BOARD. IT HAS EVERYTHING ONE CAN ASK FOR. RUNS VERY GOOD AND IS VERY STABLE IN BOTH WINDOWS 7 AND 10. I HAVE MINE SET UP WITH 2 XEONS E5 2690 V3. MAKE A NOTE OF IT- BOARD SUPPORTS E5 SERIES XEON V3. I DID NOT TRY XEON V4 VERSION BUT ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL IT IS SUPPOSE TO RUN WITH VERSION 3 XEON PROCESSOR. MEMORY USED IS KINGSTON. I HAVE FOR STIKS OF 16GB ON EACH SIDE. ALL IN ONE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD COMPUTER GET ONE. I GOT 2 OF THEM.
ASUS BOARDS HAVE NEVER LET ME DOWN.

Cons: So far none except PRICE. VERY EXPENSIVE, BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Overall Review: Overall is a good solid board. Get ONE and you will not be unhappy.

Seems pretty good so far, despite so many reviews with issues. 6/27/2018 7:44:35 AM

Pros: -Works well with a single Xeon 2680v4 right out of the box (Already flashed to version that works with v4), using a Noctua NH-D9L, and it seems to run pretty cool.
-All 4 memory slots on cpu1 work just fine with 16GB Kingston DDR4 2400 (KVR24R17D4/16) that I already owned.
-CSM on ASUS boards seems to be forgiving if you use hardware that doesn't natively support UEFI, unlike another recent motherboard purchase I made, which is nice.
-Works well with XFX GTS Black Core Edition Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 RX-580P828D6 8GB OC+ 1405 MHz XFX.
-Using a Sound Blaster ZxR and an Intel 4 port NIC as well, no issues.

Cons: -Hard to find a case for an optimal fit on an SSI EEB motherboard like this one, where all the screw holes line up without drilling them on your own.
-I wish it had SAS ports.
-Only other con I can think of, is that until you have 2 cpus in there, you're stuck with the first 4 PCI-E slots, and 2 are bound to be filled by a video card.

Overall Review: -Based on a lot of the problems I heard other people having from what they reviewed on Newegg, I was very on the fence about buying one, but in the end, I guess I was lucky, or I just had the right hardware to match, and luckily nothing "dead" on the board.
-As I was pointing out, it doesn't fit by default in a lot of cases, unless you drill a few extra holes, based on a lot of what I've read. I managed to get it into my Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced case, but I had to drill a hole at the top (I didn't want the weight of the cpus to compromise the lack of that top middle screw from the weight of heatsinks and or other forces), and one of the bottom-ish right holes was where you hide cables on a typical ATX board. Also, on this case, it was still a very tight fit, but it does fit.
-So far on newegg I've only had problems with one motherboard out of many purchases, and this wasn't one of them.
-Looking forward to when I get to purchase the matching Xeon for a second cpu in coming years.
-Typically I've ended up with a lot of ASUS and Supermicro boards, but this one is definitely beyond Supermicro, from a short time of owning and using it, as far as what you can do with 2 xeons on a single board, with lots of PCI-E slots.
-I'm still giving it 5 eggs, because if you bought this, you are most likely either a professional or a computer enthusiast, and should be able to learn to deal with the shortcomings pretty easily.

Not Cool Asus 3/7/2018 1:53:20 PM

Pros: Think it will be good when I finally get a working motherboard

Cons: Has been over two months since I got my motherboard and still haven't gotten it set up yet. ASUS support is notoriously bad. My motherboard doesn't work and their shipping and return policy is pretty bogus so I don't expect my motherboard back for at least another month. This voided all of the other warranties on my other PC parts so I have no idea if my GPU, CPU, etc. is working and those warranties are void.

Problems from the start 12/11/2017 7:42:18 AM

Pros: Easy to debug issues due to the built-in two digit screen
Lots of configuration options
M.2 port
Good heat control

Cons: The board crashed instantly every time I plugged in an Ethernet cable. After some updates It would work but would randomly crash every other day. Now it has gotten worse. It only boots after five or six attempts and crashes soon after. The computer is unusable and is costing me money. I've reseated all the components (RAM, GPU, M.2, Etc.) but it didn't help.

Overall Review: I would not recommend this board, but there are few other options that support M.2

Faulty motherboard 10/14/2017 7:24:14 AM

Pros: - 4 x PCIe x16 3.0

Cons: - poor quality: the item was faulty; I had to wiggle and push below the 24 pin connector or else the system would not have power
- I had to send it in directly to Asus and they are taking their sweet time to replace it; as a result, $5000 worth of hardware is just laying around for 1 month and I cannot use it
- Asus support was not good, but to be fair, I experienced much worse
- bad design: some connectors are located under the graphics card and cannot be used (extra USB 3.0 connection to the front of the chassis

(I hate I had to give at least one egg; zero would be my preference)

Overall Review: I guess I was stupid to buy anything made by Asus since my experience with the company and its products in the past was also bad. I had a tablet from them that had dysfunctional GPS and the WiFi did not work with many routers. I could not get it replaced. In this case, it was not a faulty item, but it was rather a feature of this product. There was a class action lawsuit because of these shortcoming and Asus lost.

Terrible 10/10/2017 2:31:26 PM

Pros: Dual socket motherboard in SSI EEB form factor, which coupled with the correct Full size ATX case, fits nicely.
High Max RAM
Lots of PCI-E slots
M.2 SSD Compatability
Plentiful SATA ports

Cons: First board had a dead RAM slot, had to RMA directly to ASUS. That went OK, other than my $500 was held hostage during the RMA.
Board would not come out of sleep state on Windows 10 Pro with BIOS at default settings, or any of a number of different settings I tried. ASUS customer support was absolutely and completely unhelpful with this issue, even though I own a different board that had a similar issue while certain BIOS settings were enabled. ASUS customer support blamed Windows for the inability to come out of sleep, and offered no helpful advice on how to fix the problem, other than continuing to state that if the BIOS settings are default, there was nothing they could do, and that Windows was the problem. Definitely possible, but they could have been much more helpful.

Overall Review: Never again will I purchase an ASUS motherboard for a project. This was part of a freelance workstation build I was doing for a client, and coupled with the terrible support experience and bad RAM slot on the first board, has turned me off ASUS completely. Unfortunate because I was an ASUS fan, and purchased everything ASUS that I could, particularly items from their ROG line.

DOA and Ineligible for return 11/27/2016 6:54:15 PM

Pros: Learned to question purchases here.

Cons: Deeply disappointing.

Overall Review: It's been about a week since I purchased this item and until all the other parts arrived.

Connected everything and... no go. Started pulling things one by one suspecting pretty much everything. CPU, RAM, PSU.

Not even a beeping signal, though this board has a pretty sophisticated diagnostics mechanism built in. Collected logs - and they're pretty much empty ("DUMPing" followed by "DUMP Finish").

Best Dual Socket Motherboard on the market. 8/10/2016 9:18:25 PM

Pros: pros easy of use
Lots of PCIE expansion
You can do some light over clocking
Plenty of sata ports

Cons: the only con I can is that this board is ssi eeb so it mite be hard to find a case that fits it natively.

Overall Review: I would say if you are look for a board for some light render or video editing this mite be the one for you.
