NEWEGG.COM DONATES TO TSUNAMI RELIEF EFFORT
NEWEGG TO MATCH EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTIONS DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR IN TSUNAMI RELIEF PACKAGE OF MORE THAN $100,000.00
Los Angeles, CA-January 12, 2005 - Newegg.comTM, one of the Internet's fastest growing electronic marketers and e-tailer of computer components, computer hardware and consumer electronics, today announced that it will be making a donation to the victims of the December 26th Earthquake and Tsunami in South Asia.
Newegg.com will be donating $100,000.00 USD to the international relief effort. The donation aims to bring immediate aid to the victims of the natural disaster, many of whom the tsunami left homeless. The company will then match all employee donations "dollar for dollar" over the next few months, leaving the extent of the relief package to the discretion of Newegg.com's 600+ employees.
"Sadly, the tragedy of this natural disaster will mount as the death toll continues to rise. It's important for Newegg.com, as an organization, to support the victims both financially and emotionally during this unfortunate time. We hope that our organization's contribution is but a fraction of the support yet to be lent to the recovery of South Asia," said Simon Hsieh, Global CEO of Newegg.com.
"This catastrophic event has produced a ground swell of compassion in people all over the world, and Newegg is united in helping those in need" said Ken Lam, Vice Chairman of Newegg.com "Granted the desire to help, there is so much we can do to assist those the tragedy has affected. We would like to encourage members of our online community, PC and gaming enthusiasts, advertisers, product manufacturers, business associates and the general public to augment the ongoing relief efforts in any and all ways possible."
