Newegg.com Showcases Innovative and Fun Technologies at Interactive "Tinker Box" Exhibit During the Conference
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. - Newegg Inc., the second-largest online-only retailer in the United States, is a principal sponsor and participant in TEDActive 2010 held at the Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, Calif. from February 9-13. At the event, Newegg will present "Tinker Box," an interactive workshop booth where visitors can learn and play with innovative new technologies.
Newegg experts are available throughout the day at Newegg's Tinker Box, assisting visitors and hosting a variety of workshops, interactive games and installations. Among the activities open to all attendees are: Tinker Trivia, a challenging game of facts and figures; Bobbing for Build, in which participants dive into a giant box of packing peanuts and attempt to fish out enough parts to build a complete PC; Tinker Thoughts, an interactive wall that can "read your thoughts" and recognize PC components; LED Graffiti, a workshop that lets visitors create their own glowing guerilla graffiti using magnetic mini LED infiltrators; Tinker Art, which allows participants to create their own multicolored light designs and Bristlebot Race, an electronic toothbrush-robot race.
Bernard Luthi, Newegg vice president of marketing, merchandising and web management, notes: "TEDActive is an event dedicated to sharing new exciting ideas and technologies. Both Newegg and TED have a reputation of being avid promoters of innovation and do-it-yourself ambition. We are very excited to be a part of TEDActive this year."
In the spirit of the event, the Newegg installation and workshops were collaboratively designed by Newegg and a team of local inventors, engineers, artists and DIY enthusiasts: John Edgar Park, Tod E. Kurt, Eric Gradman, and Brent Bushnell. The exhibit embodies the company's passion for all things tech and the motto "Once You Know, You Newegg."®
