Newegg Calls All Gamers to Summer Wanfest 2010

Newegg's Popular Online Gaming Competition Kicks-Off the Summer With Over $20,000 in Prizes

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. --Newegg Inc., the largest pure-play technology focused retailer online, has begun registration for the Summer Wanfest 2010 online tournament. The competition is open to all residents of the U.S. and Canada 13 and older, offering over $20,000 in prizes presented by Intel and with support from Corsair, IZ3D, G.Skill, MSI, Rosewill, and Dust-Off.

Newegg's competitive gaming tournaments have been popular with gamers of all ages since 2004. The competitions began in Southern California and in 2008 moved online welcoming gamers all across the U.S. and Canada. North American gamers can register and compete against their peers from the comfort of their own homes. Registration for the Summer Wanfest 2010 is free and open to all participants 13 or older in the following events:

  • Super Street Fighter IV (1 vs. 1) on Xbox 360 (starts June 28)

  • Counter-Strike: Source (5 vs. 5) on PC (starts July 5)

  • Heroes of Newerth (5 vs. 5) on PC (starts July 12)

  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (4 vs. 4) on PC (starts July 19)

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (4 vs. 4) on Xbox 360 (starts August 2)

  • Mystery Game: To be announced!

Registration deadlines vary by title. Competitions will take place through August 31, 2010. Entrants can compete in a single title or multiple games.
