Pretty good deal 11/13/2019 1:31:16 PM

Pros: - Excellent color/image quality
- Good build quality
- Built like a tank
- Very thin bezel, you could totally tile these

Cons: - only one 4K@60hz capable input over DP 1.2, HDMI 1.4 doesn't have what it takes. Why bother including inputs at all if they can't drive the monitor? This isn't a TV, 60hz or bust.
- No DP chaining capability. Also a real shame.

Overall Review: - No USB ports on the monitor. I personally don't care.
- Reviewers have pointed out that this monitor has issues with 10 bit color. ASUS' product website still reports 10-bit color (though it doesn't say "true 10 bit") so maybe there was just a bad batch or something? It'd be a real shame if it were true in general as it would bump this down from a top-of-the-pack 4k killer to merely "pretty good".
- Occasionally there will be a single frame artifact. I'm not sure what's causing it but I suspect it might be the DP cable I'm using. Possible other causes are my video hardware (780 Ti) or some internal problem with the monitor itself. It's relatively infrequent (happening maybe two or three frames per day) so I haven't devoted any time/effort/money to isolating it.

Reviews report that the monitor presents 10 bit support and performs 8 bits with FRC, which basically means the pixels toggle between colors at high speed, so what you actually see is a mixture of two colors (which represents the extra 2 bits of color state). This dithering is pretty noticeable in TN panels which frequently only support 6 bits + FRC (so there's a pretty large gap between the color of the pixels as they toggle, this being one of the primary reasons TN panels are regarded as having poor color quality) but is probably much less visible with 8 bits + FRC.

Edit: After owning two of these monitors since around the time I posted this review, one of them finally kicked the bucket on me around the beginning of November 2019. I'm sad because I now have to find a replacement, and this monitor sets a pretty high bar. My review is otherwise unchanged.

Great quality.. while they last 1/4/2019 12:29:55 PM

Pros: - Crisp image
- Bright
- Great for movies or gaming

Cons: - A little difficult to get cables plugged in
- DisplayPorts only lasted 4 years

Overall Review: I have 3 of these monitors and have been very happy with them until now. I purchased them new 4 years ago and within the past couple months 2 of them have stopped receiving signal on DisplayPort. I swapped cables, swapped ports on the graphics card, and swapped monitors around until I narrowed down the issue to the monitors' DisplayPort. This is particularly frustrating since the warranty only lasts 3 years and these monitors are an expensive purchase. There is an expectation for them to last longer. I just checked about repairs and they quoted me $270 each. With all the planned obsolescence practices being exposed these days, it certainly makes you wonder.

Displays are nicce 9/12/2018 12:30:16 PM

Pros: - Really nice color and brightness
- Good size

Cons: - Hard to plug the connections in the back.

Overall Review: I purchased two of the monitors for use. When I received them, one of the displays has a noticeable area of one or more dead pixels. Really disappointed about it, as I thought it would be less common these days. I've now had the monitors for many months now and the same monitor with the dead pixel(s) display port no longer works. Switch from display port to HDMI. Really frustrating.

I would've given these monitors a higher rating, if it were not for the pixel issue and now the Display Port failing (I tried using the same cable and input on the graphics card as the second monitor that works and vice versa and is definitely a problem with the monitor). Luckily, out of the two, the second doesn't have any problems of which I am aware.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Robert,

Thank you for taking your time in writing this review, we value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your monitor is suffering from dead pixels, and your display port is no longer working. For more information, regarding our Zero Bright Dot policy, please visit: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/696/. It looks like you have tried another display port cable to no avail. Please try power cycling your monitor. Let me know if this helps. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me at cl-justin@asus.com, or you can speak to an ASUS live support agent 24/7 at http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat. I'm here to assist our customers with our products and dedicated in bringing a resolution to all issues that they may come across. Your case for reference #N180951597

Would buy again 8/26/2018 1:31:18 PM

Pros: - great for Text / Reading
- Pictures and Games look great too
- stand quality
- screen finish (it's not glossy and there is minimal glaring/reflection)

Cons: I don't have anything about this that I do not like.

Overall Review: Around 4 years ago I bought this because I was re-entering uni and new I needed an upgrade over my very cheap Acer 19 inch monitor. I think I spent around 300$ for it then, but I love this thing. I picked it for these main reasons - the stand, the upgraded panel (vs. TN) and the fact that the screen plus bezel perfectly fill out the opening I have in my desk. I am by no means an expert when it comes to monitors, but this thing really is amazing, even after all this time.

Wow. Just wow. 6/19/2018 11:33:55 AM

Pros: Excellent colors, resolution to size ratio is perfect for my use (casual gaming and workstation). Owned for almost 4 years, still going strong.

Cons: The way the "sleep" function on this works can be frustrating if trying to troubleshoot, as it turns off whenever you lose signal. Small, isolated issue.

Overall Review: I would buy it again, especially since the price has dropped significantly since I bought it. Good recommendation to anyone looking for a good balance between resolution and image size. Admittedly, I'm no monitor guru, so this is coming from a person who uses the monitor practically, not an industry expert.

best price to performance ive come across 5/29/2018 1:24:47 PM

Pros: color accuracy
contrast ratio
gray scale
black levels
sharp and clear image
1440p
75hz
true 10bit panel
VA panel
6 point color calibration

Cons: doesn't always wake up when PC boots. have to switch to another input before it auto switches

Overall Review: I believe this is the best all around monitor you can buy for the under $500. you'll have to almost double the price to get something that has comparable image quality and color accuracy along with a true 10 bit color panel and upgrade to 100-144hz. The color accuracy out of the box (especially once calibrated) is astonishing! Casual gaming has never looked so good. especially if your coming from a tn panel or an average ips monitor. you can't understand the benefit of such a high contrast ratio and a true 10bit panel can do for your viewing enjoyment. bluerays have never looked as good as they do now. The only thing holding this picture back from being better than my Panasonic 55VT60 tv is the black levels detail is not quite as good, but considering the price difference and the negligible difference I would say 90% of people won't notice or care. The grayscale, color accuracy and sharpness of the image I feel is better than my beloved vt60. They are simply both amazing in their own ways. I'm so lucky to own both. The benefit of a 32" 16x9 is substantially beneficial no matter what your doing. All I ever read is people complaining about backlight bleed. I want everyone to try and understand that almost all monitors suffer from this. Just remember most people complaining and leave bad reviews over those that take the time to leave a good one. I never leave reviews on almost anything, but feel that this is a product truly deserving of a 5 star review.
