Does this monitor work with Windows 10?

Yes. 
A number of people have had an issue because Windows 10 does not play well with with some older video adapters using HDMI with the result that you get black bands around the display and Microsoft and (at least) AMD/ATI have made no attempt to correct the problem.
There are several fixes described on the net. So far I have had the best luck with changing to a different resolution and then using regedit to modify the byte at offset 0X24 of Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\{AB6F4029-7542-4E39-90A4-D92A7B25CD44}\0000\DALR6 DFPI 21920x1080x0x59 to 00. It should initially be 08. That is for an AMD/ATI adapter at the native resolution of the PCT2785. YMMV.

Additionally the camera is in the top bezel and the built-in easel mount results in the monitor leaning to the back unless you have a low workstation if you wish to use the web cam you might want to look at something like item 9SIA3C916C4230 Mount-It MI-751 Articulating Single Arm Computer Monitor Desk Mount for 27-Inch Monitors.

Windows sees the monitor as having 10 touch points but Windows 10 does not seem to provide all the swipes etc in desktop mode that you have on a tablet but it does do the basics like select, drag, pinch click etc.

Question 2

is there a DVI connection. Planar don't list one?

No, the connections are HDMI, VGA and display port but there are low cost (a few dollars) adapters and cables that will convert DVI to HDMI. You can connect the speakers via an audio port and cable or for a bunch more there are adapters that will insert the audio into the HDMI but that seems like a waste.

The manual shows the use of a cable to connect the microphone out but in actuality the webcam & microphone are combined on a single USB.

Yes, the monitor does have an HDMI connection.  I have been using the monitor for quite some time, and am very happy with the unit.  The screen is very clear and bright and the touch screen works great.  You won't find a better unit for the same money...

Question 4

Are all the connectors on the rear of this monitor?
I need one that does not have any side mounted connectors.

Also - 
can you use two of these on one PC, side by side?
Will the S/W work using 2 usb ports, with 2 monitors?

There are 2 USB ports and a card reader on the left side, but all other connections are on the bottom rear so it should work fine in that configuration.  The power and other buttons are side mounted, so you'll still want to leave maybe 1/8" between them.  I run two touch screen monitors on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (and OS X with the Touch-Base driver).  All you have to do to make it work is open Tablet PC Settings and click setup.

I bought one in Jan 2013, replaced it 4/2/14 under warranty, have a third one on the way as the second one died too, just 2/12/15!  Any one else have this bad luck?

LOL - is it possible that they meant to say "on a tabletop"?  Certainly, it can not be used "as a tabletop"?  The monitor is designed to lay flat.  Its why I purchased it - but I ended up using the stand and propping it up anyway.

can this be used with a Mac, and does it require a driver?

It can (with some effort) work as a Mac touchscreen.  Touch-Base makes drivers (and has for decades).  I am currently working with them to iron out an intermittent issue with the driver for my MacBook Pro.

I can confirm that it registers multiple touch points with Windows 10 and Linux.  I can't say for certain about Windows 7, though it is sold as a 10-touch point monitor, so I can't see why it would be different.
