Pros: True Hardware RAID unlike other offerings. Software Raid does not allow TRIM so you will have extremely slow write and read issues eventually. TRIM is supported. Performance is exactly as advertised by Western Digital. Using with Vmware ESXi Hypervisor and using a 2nd AN1500 with Windows 10. Somewhat costly but would recommended to those who want PCIe Gen 4 Performance using a PCIe Gen 3 system.
Cons: Costly.
Overall Review: Would recommend to those who want True Hardware Raid with M.2 Nvme drives and those that want Gen 4 performance in a Gen 3 system.
Pros: Its incredibly fast, just what I was looking for. The LEDs are a nice little addition as well
Cons: just make sure you're aware this takes up 8 lanes and wipe the drive fully before installing it
Overall Review: I'd recommend this to other people if they were in the market for a new ssd and had the available lanes and free PCIe slots for it
Pros: Its fast much faster than you expect made my system super smooth and responsive. Games load up quick and seem effortless Fast boot
Cons: Didnt get the promised speed but that I think is something in my setup but not sure what It is yet. Once I get to the bottom of it I will update my review Only Con I think is The price. I could have gotten more space for less money for about the same speed going with a Samsung evo or something. I have installed this 2 tb ssd on my asrock fatality gaming i7 with Z370 chip. I kinda took a chance at this not knowing if a z370 chip will support this ssd and it works. I found the information on WD site focused on selling features and less on compatibility.
Overall Review: Happy with the new life this ssd had given my pc. Btw Was worried about heat issues but that is not a problem it runs at about 49-51 c
Pros: - Really fast PCIe Gen 4-like speeds on a PCIe Gen 3 platform
Cons: - SMART health self-assessment failing, warning that temperature is too high: 72C!! Needs active cooling or direct substantial airflow
Overall Review: You need to have decent airflow since this thing runs hot as hell to the point that this drive is throwing SMART errors due to thermals, which is averaging around ~72C for me with admittedly poor airflow.
Pros: fast plug and play RGB looks awesome finally have a use for my 2nd pcie x16 slot doesn't use an m2 slot
Cons: won't run past gen 1 speeds (more test soon to come) kinda pricey
Overall Review: so my specs are 10700k, ASUS ROG MAXIMUS HERO XII, 2x16gb 3600mhz ram, 500 GB, 1tb, and 2tb m2 ssd (all are WD sn750's, EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 ultra, 850w PSU, I cannpt get this thing to run at gen 3 speeds so I am going to take a m2 drive out and see if there is anything I can do to get this thing running at the right speed Another thing to take note of if you go on the western digital website they claim this thing isn't compatible with intel chipsets past z390 I am sure there is something to get thing running faster hopefully tech support can help tomorrow
Pros: This thing is fast! Love the lighting effects as well. Software is easy to use and Im getting the advertised speeds as promised.
Cons: Gets hot but as long as you have good airflow, all is well.
Overall Review: Love it, get it!
Pros: I have two windows servers each with over 20 VMs. Had 2.5" SSD running at 560GBps write as my system drive and place where all VM images resided. Backups to Hard disk of the 1.2TB of all VM machines was taking 30 mins to do all drive exports. Was using VEEAM but continually had problems restoring (parity errors) so using VM export exclusively). VM exports now with the wd_black take 1 minute and throughput is 2600 MBps. Fantastic performance and price is only 2X what I had as a previous solution. I sleep better at night now.
Cons: -works as advertised and I love it. -if you don't have a see through case all you will get is some light pulsing out the back of your server against a wall.
Overall Review: I would recommend to others without reservation. A real SSD solution to a real problem.
Pros: - Very fast - Easy install - RGB - Software is intuitive
Cons: - Did not work as a boot drive for my X399 Taichi - Runs HOT (61C idle) - Needs 8x PCIe lanes for full functionality (not an issue for me, but something to consider) - Very pricy for what it is
Overall Review: Firstly: Anyone who is considering this as a boot drive, chances are it will not work unless you're on an extremely modern platform like X570. Ultimately it doesn't matter much, but it should be noted- think of it as a way to add NVMe 4.0 speed to an older platform, assuming you've got the 8x PCIe lanes to spare. The drive itself is extremely fast, but runs hot.
