Pros: It's simple. It works as an answering machine that will take a message.
Cons: I install phone systems for a living. There are many instances where clients do not want an answering machine to take messages. They want a machine to answer calls and announce when their hours of operation are, or to relay information about a special event, then hang up. They do not want or need the machine to take a message. This answerer cannot be set to announce only.
Other Thoughts: I called two different manufacturers and was told the same thing. Their engineers removed the feature because of too many complaints by people who bought one. Too many people would return their new answering machine complaining it was not taking massages. The manufacturer would then find them set to announce only. So because too many people are so uninformed about the equipments proper use, people like me can no longer get what they need. Let’s make people smarter, not equipment dumber.

Other Thoughts: The previous reviewer: It is an answering machine with one line but two selectable recordings and three mailboxes. I could have three family members each with a mailbox and have two different recordings to choose from.

Pros: The 1-line answering machine described by GE looks like a good buy.
Cons: Newegg's description of this as a "2-line telephone" etc. etc. disagrees with the picture and the GE description which says it's a 1-line answering machine.
Other Thoughts: I was perceptive enough not to buy this until newegg can figure out what it really is...
