Love it. 5/14/2020 4:16:04 PM

Pros: This is an amazing laptop. I haven’t been able to put it down since purchasing it.

Run games beautifully and crystal clear.

Would recommend to anyone interested in taking their games to go.

Cons: The arrow keys are a tad small and the F12 key feels like it should be where the Delete key should be. That is just my preference, though.

Overall Review: Yes, see above.

Sleek and powerful gaming laptop, but not without issues 5/6/2020 11:05:27 PM

Pros: This machine is able to tackle modern gaming at high specs without difficulty. The overall design of it is fantastic, and the metal casing feels of high quality.

Cons: The problems arise while not gaming interestingly. The fans on the machine just makes this horrible grinding noise when all I am doing is watching a YouTube video or writing an email. If I fire up a game such as The Forest, at full detail. The sound will just be drowned out by the loud but typical fan noise one would expect while gaming at high detail. Then once you have ended your gaming session for 15 minutes or so, the grinding noise will return and continue to annoy.

It is not going to be possible to do anything of a productive manner with this machine while it makes this irritating and concerning noise. I am disappointed with this.

Overall Review: I bought this machine due to the 5 egg reviews and a sale. I don't know what to do now.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Greg P,

I certainly understand your frustration with your laptop's fan noise. Try setting your fans to silent mode via armory crate. You can also try making sure you've closed out any unnecessary applications running in the background for improved performance. If you haven't done so please try updating your BIOS and drivers to their latest version for better optimization, for more detail please refer to the provided link*. Feel free to contact me if the issues persist. You can reach me at cl-adrian@asus.com. Your case for reference is N200519075.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Best Regards,
Adrian

Impressive gaming laptop with all the bells and whistles 5/4/2020 2:29:49 PM

Pros: - Brilliant IPS 17” screen, super bright giving you 12Hz of 1920 x 1080
- AMD Ryzen 7 (four cores with CMT, AMD’s equivalent of HT) idling at 2300MHz with maximum frequency at 4 GHz, gives you please of horsepower
- 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD, this is not your regular SSD or even standard PCIe M.2 SSD, it is a super-fast NVMe which gives you blazing fast boot up and loading of games and other programs
- Duel GPU’s one is native and integrated on the Ryzen chip (Radeon RX Vega 10), the other is a GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, very powerful and gives you what you need running the latest games. I ran COD at full throttle at max settings, no lag whatsoever
- Case is beautiful, robust military grade design and quite light for what you get
- RGB backlit
- Price is reasonable at $1k for what you get
- Two fans in the back are very effective in keeping the CPU/GPU cool while gaming
- Love the keyboard, especially the light great W-A-S-D keys for gaming
- Battery life is not bad at all, I get a full 3 hrs of gaming, web browsing probably 8 hrs easy

Cons: - The touch pad is clunky and noisy
- No SSD slot if you want to add another SSD, very surprised about that
- No software included with the box, could be because I received this as review sample from Newegg
- Fans in the back can get pretty noisy, not a big distraction though.
- Cant set the backlit as one solid color, a bit annoying that the colors cycle (Edit, if you install TUF Aura Core from the MS store you can set the colors). Had to google it, not a big deal but still keeping it in the “con” section
- Could have used 32 GB of RAM for such a high end laptop

Overall Review: This is my second gaming laptop and an Asus as well, my 1st one I bought myself and had two video cards of which you can removed. It was heavy and battery lasted on the couple of hrs. This Asus TUF gaming laptop came with the latest hardware, very impressed with the CPU although I’m an Intel die-hard fan. The GPU and SSD are incredible. Overall look, design and aesthetics of the laptop is world class. The laptop is heavy as are all high end gaming laptop, so don’t expect to drag it all over campus.
I’m also a big supporter of Asus, they design and build quality hardware and this laptop is a great example of what you can expect from Asus.
The touchpad is horrible, so I’m deducting one star for that only, which is s pity as I love touch pads in general

All in all a great buy if you want to replace your aging gaming laptop. I can recommend this to anyone want to upgrade and get a laptop from a reputable manufacturer of gaming hardware like Asus.
Thanks Newegg for the sample, had a lot of fun with it.

Full featured gaming laptop 4/29/2020 2:30:48 PM

Pros: *17.3" IPS 120Hz 1920x1080 panel - smooth, responsive, and gaming quality is pretty great.
*4core 8thread Ryzen CPU - typical clock in low to high 3.0GHz during gaming or heavy loads
*16GB of SKHynix DDR4 2400 RAM
*512GB NVMe Micron 2200V SSD
*decent Camera - works well on video calls.
*empty 2.5" internal drive bay
*No bloatware - Asus software and McAfee Security only along with the normal Windows 10 stuff
*Not oversized - fits in 15" laptop bag
*Keyboard - spaced well and typing is very accurate and comfortable
*Solid build - plastic, but very dense.

Cons: *Touchpad - loose, loud, and jumpy. I use a mouse, so not a problem.
*Combo Audio Jack - Would prefer separate headphone/mic jacks. Higher end Asus has a combo jack and separate mic jack. Would not switch to headset until I went into the audio driver and reselect the headphones the first time. Also happens on occasion afterwards. Had poor sound quality until I went into the Windows Speaker Properties and DISABLED "Enable audio enhancements". It then sounded quite great.
*No access panels or popout battery - You must remove all 11 screws on the bottom and carefully use a flat shim tool to pop the entire bottom off.
*Older model - The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is the upgraded model of this with better specs for a small price increase.

Overall Review: For $1000 this is a very capable gaming laptop. It functions well as an everyday machine and gaming laptop. I tested this playing a number of games including Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, along with a few lesser games like Minecraft and some indie titles. At no time did I feel it was lacking.

Great product for the price on sale 4/27/2020 10:46:50 PM

Pros: - will run pretty much any AAA game at either max graphics or close to it.
-Low profile for a beast of the specs this PC has.
-would say this is more of a gaming desktop that you can undock and take on the go. I've been gaming for over 10 years on PC and I am extremely happy with switch from Intel to AMD

Cons: -Okay so they did say "chiclet keys" in the description, this laptop is meant to be used as a portable desktop with all the peripherals at your station already. However, when I am on the go, the chiclet keys are a slight inconvenience to game on. I mean, as far as chiclet keys go, these are better than 99% of other brands.

Overall Review: Of course. If they could get it at the price I did while it was on sale. Otherwise, probably not. There are better and cheaper computers out there.

First Gaming Laptop - Might Impressed 4/27/2020 3:32:16 PM

Pros: - Speedy Ryzen Processor.
- Quietly Efficient.
- Superfast SSD.
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM.
- ASUS Quality and Branding
- Excellent Keyboard
- Asus Armoury Crate Software / Aura Sync
- Brilliant Touchpad
- Easy upgrading of Software, drivers, and BIOS
- Handles any games without issue (so far)
- Dual fan dust free system
- TUF casing (aluminum shell)

Cons: - Slight bend in the keyboard when typing feverishly (nothing bad but I did notice it while typing this).
- Screen has a slight bend to it. Nothing terrible but I mean some people could easily break this if not
careful.
- Annoying pop-ups letting me know what mode the fan settings are (OK I get it I have it set to Turbo/Performance I don't need to be told when you do it).
- Can get hot on the base, like most powerful laptops can (the work MacBook Pros get hot but they are like a huge heatsink anyways)

Overall Review: I waited a good bit to write this (a couple weeks if I am not mistaken) because I have NEVER had a gaming laptop in my life or ever used one. I am impressed with this hardware. I am a huge fan of the Ryzen processors and they are some of the best out right now (about time you came back AMD!!!). The keyboard is a pleasure to type on and it has a great touch to input ratio. Not loud at all but very tactile and accurate and quiet. I have been playing Assassin's Creed Fates of Atlantis, TLOH: Cold Steel 3, and a few others and they have not stuttered or slowed down whatsoever. I love the GNC of AMD iGPU and the GTX 1660 (honestly this and the 2660 is about the same). I have had an Nvidia GPU since before they bought out Voodoo (long time ago). The DTS/DOLBY sound in games is great and the AIO port for headphones works well. I have tested it out on my old Plantronics Stereo Headset/Mic and it sounds fantastic. I have also tested it on a Wired set of Corsair RGB 7.1 headsets and the sound if fantastic. I am a little miffed at Windows 10 Home but it is what it is and it works fine. I recommend updating on first use because as always Windows will make you. Last bit of information I will throw out there is the very little bit of bloatware. Minus the ridiculous McAfee AV it had only a trial of Office.

Overall I am impressed with this and while not as powerful as my own built Gaming Laptop (Ryzen 2600x, 32 GB GEIL Portenza DDR4 RAM, 2.5 TB SSDs (mix of NVME and 2.5" SSD) and Dual Radeon 590x) it handles anything I throw at ii with aplomb. I will say that I can have my monitor display in 4K and it looks fantastic on the laptop.

You will not regret buying this.

Great price to Performance 4/24/2020 7:10:19 AM

Pros: -Fast and Powerful for the price
-Sturdy design

Cons: -A little flex on the keyboard area (but thats hard to avoid with any laptop, could be worse)

Overall Review: My last work laptop as a MSI laptop with a 1050ti and it was fine for work, but I also like to squeeze in some gaming or 3D modeling at work and man that 1050ti was hot garbage even when it was brand new. The 1660ti is a nice 1080p beast. I can play 2019 Modern Warfare max settings and get over 100 fps. Same go's for World of Warcraft and Ark. If you wanting to hard core game sure you can always do better then this but if your looking for a good middle ground for work and gaming with out sacrificing visuals or frames this is a go to.
