Excellent Buy 1/29/2012 12:22:09 AM

Pros: The speakers are great on this system and the overall graphics performance is really good for this price point. The GT520 while not the biggest thing on the block is allows it to run Skyrim on High settings, and Star Craft 2 on High as well. The screen is nice and the Camera is really good to, though I don't think it's HD it's still a cut above from my older ones. Nice chicklet style keyboard too though it's a little quirky. This computer runs really cool too which is a nice things, it's got big vents on the side.

Cons: Hard drive speed. It's a minor upgrade but I did throw in a Seagate Monentus XT to speed things up quite a bit. The one that was in there was fine, but at 5400 it just ran too slow and the boot times and load times for programs just felt to slow. Also It would have been nice to have more RAM to work with, however that's a mild complaint considering the price point. It dose run a little loud it's cooling is great, but when it kicks the fan into high gear you certainly hear it. The Keyboard is a little odd, I don't like they use a shortened right shift key. Also it didn't have any USB 3.0 ports which is kind of a bummer.

Overall Review: All in all this is truly an excellent computer. This is my first Lenovo and it certainly won't be my last. This computer was the same price as my old HP G-Series that I bought 2 years ago and this is such a huge improvement. The i3 processor while not a powerhouse, is very efficient and capable. The GPU is great, I have no complaints with the GT 520, very capable and good running the lastest games, just don't expect much to be running on ULTRA settings or anything like that. The Keyboard is nice, I love that it's a full keyboad, but I don't like the short shift key, and the arrows kind of feed into the 10-key pad. There is very little bloatware just a few Lenovo things and that was it. All in all you can't go wrong with this one.

Many problems 11/22/2011 3:56:09 PM

Pros: Computer looks nice, I like the keyboard and display. The battery life is good (still a new battery).

Cons: This computer has been acting funny since the day I got it. First, and most concerning, it doesn't like to shut down. About 50% of the time I have to hold the power button to get the computer to turn off. Sometimes it tests my patience and takes 10 minutes to power down (keep in mind this computer is relatively new). Sometimes it seems to shut down just fine.
Also concerning is the wireless internet connection. I'm currently writing this review from my old laptop because I can connect to the internet (which I currently cannot on the Z570). This seems to be a recurring issue with this computer ( due to bad drivers or maybe the default Intel wifi software. I also had a tremendously difficult time getting the WiFi to work in Ubuntu, which also seems to be documented. Last, I've read that a clean install of Windows won't fix the problem since the WiFi drivers aren't available.
Buy something els

Overall Review: Troubleshooting this computer has taken more of my time than I care to admit. If you're a tech-savvy person with some time on your hands give it a try. If you want a computer that works everytime you turn it on, look elsewhere. I've been using my 5 year old HP more frequently than this one.

Didn't work properly to begin with, Lenovo customer service is terrible 10/12/2011 1:19:12 AM

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Way bigger than I thought. Everything about this laptop would be fine except mine is defective. It takes 20 minutes for it to turn on. It has taken me about 6 phone calls to Lenovo "tech support" only to find out I have to pay for it to be shipped, be without a computer for 2 weeks (I'm an engineering student so this is quite an inconvenience), and have my hard drive wiped. Most of this I wouldn't mind, except its A MONTH OLD. Also, in all my phone calls to tech support I've had to reinstall office twice, which means my activation code is no longer valid. All of this to me is an indication of the fact that some of these computers are defective to begin with, and their customer service is terrible. I had read bad customer service about Lenovo, but I really wasn't expecting to have to deal with them. I know this is a bit of a rant, but I have never been so dissatisfied with a product/service prior to this.

Overall Review: Basically aside from the time I spent calling, the money to have the computer shipped, the fact that I now have to repurchase office, and the computer is brand new, its an OK buy right?

Amazing Value 10/2/2011 11:24:50 PM

Pros: • Very well organized keyboard - all the keys are easy to find, unlike a typical laptop keyboard. Also, the keys are curved which helps when typing.
• Awesome sound considering they're only laptop speakers. Very nice crisp sound. It's also enhanced by SRS Premium Sound which is nice.
• Nice LED screen with vibrant colours
• Features a keypad
• Plays L4D2 on high settings on 1366x768 resolution (the max supported by the screen)
• Has an hdmi out
• The e-sata port is also a usb 2.0 port which is nice
• Track pad does not retain finger smudges. It's also very smooth and does not stick to your fingers. The buttons are very easy to press and makes very little noise
• Has a dedusting feature which helps remove dust build up
• Has a nice aluminum design.
• Smudge and fingerprint resistant
• Track pad lights up in the dark
• Very quiet fan

Cons: • The keyboard makes quite a bit of noise when typing
• Webcam is only 0.3 megapixels
• Keyboard is not backlit
• I had to format the laptop because originally, it booted up very slowly due to the bloatware lenovo installed on it
• Battery life isn't as long as I'd hope for
• The EE Boot up optimizer kept on looping indefinitely, another reason why I had to format the laptop.
• Veriface would turn on even though I disabled it, yet another reason to format it
• After a clean install, the lenovo wallpaper remained as well as the lenovo avatar for the user. I personally don't like this. I'm guessing it's because of the UEFI. Not sure about this one.

Overall Review: I don't know about the other reviewer, but I personally did not have any problems when I formatted the laptop. I booted up the windows disc using the boot up menu (F12) and I did not change the boot up order in the BIOS. Why would you do that anyway? You're only booting up the disc once and then you'll be booting up the HDD after the install so why bother changing the boot up order?

I love the fresh laptop smell.

Good unless you reinstall. 9/25/2011 10:12:57 AM

Pros: Fast
Dedicated Graphics
Excellent Value
Large Screen
Full Keyboard

Cons: UEFI bios (as of version 36) has bugs (see other thoughts) (docked two stars)
Smudges easily
Wireless On/Off LED is in a bad spot.
Hard to tell in general what items are on unless machine is under bright light
Bloatware (but it makes the machine cheaper sooooo)

Overall Review: DO NOT FORMAT AND REINSTALL WINDOWS ON THIS MACHINE. Buyer beware if you plan to do a clean install. The UEFI Bios is not up to par and you will not be able to successfully get your WiFi working after a clean install without changing the boot order in the UEFI Bios \every\ boot.

Search for a thread on lenovo's forums titled many Z570 problems

I would assume they'll release an update to fix this, but until then you'll have to uninstall the bloatware and do an anytime upgrade of windows 7 if you want a different version.
Otherwise machine is great and I did not encounter any problems. (Even with separate installs).

Fine Laptop 9/23/2011 6:53:59 AM

Pros: I love the keyboard, I know that it might seem trivial, but the keyboard has the perfect tactile response and makes the perfect amount of "click" when you type. There are those reading this who know exactly how I feel about this, the keyboard can make a big difference. Also, a dedicated number-pad, excellent.

Great Battery life, put power on "saver" and it will last all day.

I keep reading about the speakers being weak, but i'm fairly certain that this is a user problem. If you go into control panel > sound > speakers > enhancements > loudness equalization, check this and apply. You will immediately notice that the speakers are no longer inaudible.

Abiblity to customize what the graphics card runs, and also to shut it off completely.

Cons: The case does tend to get smudged up, but this is barely counts as a con if you just take care of it.

Overall Review: Well made latop Lenovo. This is my first by them, i'm impressed.

Also, I ordered the laptop at 6pm on a wednesday and recieved it the following Friday. I applaud Newegg for their fantstic response time and service.

Received incomplete product, got only excuses 9/21/2011 6:35:34 AM

Pros: I am unable to provide any details on any pros on this machine. I received a product without a single accessory.

I will only say the machine seems to be solidly built. The finish is sophisticated and professional.

Cons: I only wish I could receive a full working product since this is my last year in my postgraduate program. Saying that I have a laptop without a battery is a flimsy excuse to give to a lecturer.

Overall Review: Two weeks after the initial delivery of a bare laptop I got a charger. There is no refund, long wait times to speak to agents only to hear excuse after excuse. Ordering a product online doesn't make it any less of a sale.

I have school projects to do. Unfortunately, I have a laptop that is useless without a battery. This experience has been appalling and frustrating. Beforehand I thought Newegg was the best...offering a dedicated graphics card and all at this price. It sounded too good to be true.....IT WAS.

This thing flys!!!! 9/19/2011 8:25:14 AM

Pros: Update:: Photoshop CS5 and Autocad and Inventor 2012 run like a dream on this laptop!!! The dedicated gpu really helps out during rendering or graphics intense software. Feels like it runs smoother than my Desktop (C2Duo @ 3.8 ghz, 4g ddr3-1600, 444 fsb)

Cons: still haven't found any (except win 7 likes to take 30 min a day to install updates, probably gonna throw XP on here for kicks)

Overall Review: Lenovo is good quality!! The day my laptop came in, Walmart had an HP Dv7 with amd A6 and dedicated ati 6xxx card on clearance for $600~(Plastic case though)
