Hanns-G Hi-221DPB 22" WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI-D Built-in Speakers LCD Monitor

Pros: First of all, very pumped for NO dead pixels. Really a nice display, out of the box it was pretty bright, but nothing some calibration can't fix. Haven't seen any ghosting and enjoy the bigger display. The bezel was called boring but I like how thin it is, doesn't matter if its boring anyway, you look at the screen not the rest of the screen The colors are pretty vibrant, but not for editing. I basically use it for normal computing and also FPS gaming. It has worked great for me. Get one, you won't regret it.

Cons: Does seem a little bright around the edges when viewing low light pictures, but not that bad, haven't watched a lot of movies on it yet but only noticeable if you look for it. Forget about the speakers, didn't even try them, but I bet they are horrible, I have good logitechs anyway.

Overall Review: Can't pass up a good price with free shipping. Bought it because I was on a budget and was pretty much spec for spec with the 22" Samsung. Better than paying $250-$400 for a brand name (this is coming from a person who usually buys brand names). I took a chance with this one and I have to say, it impressed me.

Pros: *Cheap, big for the price. *Decent picture quality. *Good sharpness through VGA (if you do not have DVI options and you are worried, don't be. It looks fine without it.) *haven't found any stuck pixels yet, but haven't really been looking either. *Long, robust VGA and power cables. My case is quite far from the monitor, and I could go a bit further even. *Hanns-G's packaging job was well-designed and excellent. There was no additional newegg box on top, but I highly doubt that would matter. You would really have to trash the box to damage this thing in shipping. *Generally clear and simple adjustment menu (not the buttons, the menu itself) *Included speaker. Yes, on-monitor speakers are garbage by nature, but for office environments where space is at a premium and sound quality is not an issue, it's very handy. People giving the speakers a con are missing the point. If you want to listen to music get some large real speakers.

Cons: *Poor color reproduction, weak saturation. This isn't an issue for standard computing, but if you are a professional doing photo or video editing and post production, get something higher-end if you can afford it. If not, calibrate the color as best you can... it's still perfectly usable on a budget. *Off-axis visibility worse than some monitors, but acceptable for this price. Left+Right is OK, but Up+Down has a pretty narrow range which is a problem in my studio setup, since the stand doesn't handle much tilt. *Poorly engineered stand. *No DVI cable included. Not an issue for me because I'm using VGA. *AUTO button poorly placed between MENU and UP+DOWN buttons... it's too easy to accidentally hit while tweaking the picture. *Slightly inconsistent blacks. Generally the blacks are decent butsome areas (mainly the lower middle of the screen) are somewhat gray in comparison. This is extremely subtle and many people wouldn't notice. Not an issue for the price.

Overall Review: Cons continued: *Paper manual has no info on stand adjustment. *CD-ROM manual has info, but it's not very reassuring. It seems like it's going to break if you adjust the tilt because it requires extreme force. *The "3 year warranty" is misleading. Like many others, I found out that Hanns G only covers the LCD (in other words the part that matters) for only 1 year. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. /end cons Other thoughts: This sucker comes with the brightness and contrast CRANKED to eyeball-melting levels. Go into the menu immediately and dial them down to saner levels. Overall a great deal at sale prices, assuming it holds up over time (always the danger with cheap monitors). I'll be back in a few months to let you know how it's running after some heavier use. If it's still going I will bump it up a star then.

Pros: Great size, Clean, no glossy additive that other try to do.. also the viewing angle on this monitor is great! dont be worried about not being able to see anything because your standing next to your son on your computer.. no ghosting that i can see.. no glare.. Very bright.. need to turn down brightness heavily to be correct (should mean that in 2 years all the way up will be perfect)

Cons: No height adjustment on the base

Overall Review: I personally own 3 different hanns-G monitors.. no dead pixels.. and only once did i have 1 stuck pixel, which i rubbed with my finger and it quickly went away! hanns-G has my devotion.

Pros: Great for the price. See other thoughts. Just as nice if not better than my Samsung Sync Master 205BW 22" wide screen monitor.

Overall Review: My first review gave this Hanns-G monitor 4 eggs because it had a dead pixel near the center of the screen. Today, as I was wiping a smudge off the screen the "dead" pixel came off too. Boy do I feel dumb.

Pros: Got it today hooked it up with the vga connection (the dual link dvi cable I bought was too short doh) and must say I'm kinda impressed, went from a very nice 21" crt to this. Playing call of duty 4 and Bio shock with no ghosting and the colors are good.

Cons: Not really a con because of the price of the monitor but there is some and I mean little bulb bleed through on the top and bottom, not bad at all. kinda slow sync time, I can live with it. I would say the biggest gripe is the stand offers very little ajustment.

Overall Review: Bottom line is for 199 and free shipping I got a 22" flat pannel with no dead pix and good color with nice response time. On a side note the monitor was very very bright out of the box, come to find out it was set at 100% so I backed it and the contrast down to 55% and its very nice now, still kinda brite but nice.

Pros: Great monitor, great price, beautiful display using the DVI cable, but you can also use the VGA cable. This monitor is bigger than my 19-inch TV. I absolutely LOVE it!!!

Pros: Cheap. I have seen others selling used 22" monitors for what I paid for this baby new. I haven't had any problems with ghosting, white seepage around the edges, or any of the issues you normally have with lower cost monitors. NO dead pixels. Everything looks beautiful on this puppy, especially games.

Cons: No DVI cord. For the price, that isn't too much of a hit, just make sure you buy a DVI Male to DVI Male cable when you purchase this.

Overall Review: Cable would have been nice. And that energystar sticker on the front is annoying.

Pros: Bought this back on 6/17/2008, it is used in a office. Worked great out of the box with nothing wrong. Very nice picture, and I am thinking of buying another one.

Overall Review: Speakers - you don't buy a monitor for the speakers. Have owned other Hanns-G CRT monitors in the past and they have worked very well. This is my first LCD from them and they have not let me down.
