I need a better card for Battlefield 4, looks like this will do. my processor is AMD Athlon II x4 635 quad-core processor, is this compatible?

Yes,

I use this card to play battlefield 4.  I have a 6 core CPU, but you should still be able to run the game on MEDIUM or better.  Hopefully you have at least 8 GB of ram.  I have listed the minimum/recommended specs below:

Minimum specs for BF4 are:

my processor is AMD athlon II x4 635 quad-core. but it only has PCI 2.0x16 will this not work? if not can you recommend a card that will fit that and have about the same power and quality? or is my motherboard to outdated?

Hi Chris,

Do you mean PCI 2.0 x16, or PCIe 2.0 x16? This card does work on PCIe 2.0 x16, but not PCI 2.0 x16, which has a completely different interface and is very outdated. When purchasing this card, make sure you have enough power coming from your PSU and that your computer case is big enough to fit this 11.25" monster. Your processor seems alright (I'm using an i3-530 with mine). Anyway, if you do decide to purchase this card, have fun! It is EXTREMELY powerful. I bought it at $179.99 at the beginning of August, and that was considered cheap (it was on sale and was the cheapest out of all the 7870s). Now it's $169.99 with a $30 rebate, wow!

Question 3

I noticed this doesn't come with an additional power cable. Does this card not need the extra power that has become typical?

It doesn't come with anything except the card itself.  My computer already had 2 power cables inside that were wired together and ready to use.  Just check inside your case and see if you have an extra hanging around somewhere, but you definitely need 2 power cables.

Question 4

I have a Gigabyte Radeon 7870 OC edition 2gb. Could i crossfire this card with the one i already have?

you should have no problem crossfiiring the two card so long as your mb supports it. Just be aware that crossfire will default to the lowest clock and you may need manually set the oc edition to match the clocks on this card if you have any stability issues. Also be aware this card is very very large, 11.69", almost a foot long so make sure you measure inside your case first and take into account and hard drives or cables that are in the way. And last make sure you have ample power supply with 2 extra 6-pin plugs and if you are not using at least a fast phenom 2 or I5 cpu you will not get much added performance.

Question 5

I already have the HIS Radeon 7870 IceQ X, which has a the fan in the middle of the cooler. I'd like to purchase another, but only this one is still available. Will these 2 models be able to crossfire with each other? Is only the cooler different?

most all cards of the same series are compatible to cross fire.  the lower spec cards will bring down the higher end card to its level.  Better to have 2 of the same.  but these are the same as long as they are 7870's  if 1 is an over clocked card you will prob need to set both clocks at the same.

How would this compare to my Nvidia 560 Fermi?

Well, this Radeon 7870 is definitely one of the newer cards in the Radeon HD series and what they say is true… Newer is better. First of all you have 2 GB of onboard video RAM which is a big leap from the 1 GB offered on your card which helps with the processing of game data and graphics. Also, the fan on this card is pretty amazing, I've had no overheating problems playing games on max settings and slightly overclocked… Which is kind of overkill because this card rocks. On the subject of overclocking… The card comes with overclocking software that is extremely easy to use; of course download the most recent drivers from the website. If you are looking to upgrade I would highly suggest this card… You can't beat the price and its quality is as good if not better than the Nvidia card equivalents such as the 650 Ti. Not to mention you get two free games with your purchase. 
        Note: the card is pretty dang big so make sure you have enough room on your motherboard and case. Also, make sure that you have a powerful enough power supply to run this beast.
