Pros: Slapped it into the PS3 to try and get some better performance from Assassin's Creed, worked beautifully for me. I would recommend this drive as your next PS3 HDD replacement if you're in the market, this sucker is FAST!

Pros: This drive is tough. The UPS guy left the package outside where my two dogs got to it. I found the dogs fighting over the drive. There were indentations to the exterior metal shell, but otherwise the other parts took the abuse OK. I plugged the thing into my Mac Mini & to my amazement the thing still works! Ran drive diagnostics & everything is OK so far.

Cons: The UPS guy that dropped the box inside my yard without ringing the doorbell.

Pros: Easy replacement for the Hitachi 5400 rpm 60 Gb drive that came with my Dell Inspiron 1501.

Cons: None noted.

Overall Review: The 10% increase in speed over the 5400 rpm drive it replaced is hardly noticable most of the time, but it's nice to have it. Would be a major improvement over a 4200 rpm drive. 7200 is as quiet as the old 5400 drive. Got the combo package that includes a Rosewill SATA to USB adapter. Now the old drive is a portable backup drive for about $20. Standard 3-day shipping arrived in 3 days.

Pros: All I can say is wow. I went from a 5400RPM HDD to this 7200RPM with 16MB cache and was absolutely blown away by the performance increase in my laptop. I never expected this much of an oncrease. I suspect the 16MB cache has as much to do with it as the increase in spindle speed but, seriously, I expected a very small change in performance, nothing like what I saw. The only thing I can equate it to is going from 256MB of RAM to 1GB on an overworked PC.

Overall Review: This is a very easy and very effective upgrade. Much more so than I ever expected. Stick your old5400RPM in an Apricorn enclosure and move up to this beast. Quiet, cool running and a scorcher performance-wise. Completely surprised by the results.

Pros: After my cat pulled my wifes laptop off the table a couple of weeks ago I was faced with two options - visit a Sony Center and pay them $99 to test the laptop or buy this (faster, larger) drive for the same price. It was delivered in 2 days, installed in 10 minutes and the whole system was restored using Sony's software.

Cons: None yet, though I have a feeling laptop upgrades are not always as easy as this!

Overall Review: Our Sony Vaio C13G has three slots for upgrades to hard disk, ram and processor - two screws to remove the caddy, 4 screws to change the drive and bosh that's it all done.

Pros: I am biased to begin with as I am a huge Hitachi Drive fan...for PC and notebooks...as well as external drives. My purpose for getting this drive was that I wanted to upgrade my laptop drive and many posts in various forums went on about how much performance increase they got by upgrading from a 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm drive, which I did not believe. Now, after having this bad boy in there...there is a noticeable performance jump in disk access. I don't know if it was purely the speed of the drive that enhanced this or the 16mb of cache...but either way I am happy with it.

Pros: 16MB cache which translates into high performance, storage

Cons: just slightly louder than my old drive, a little bit pricey for the amount of storage, no bells, no whistles.

Overall Review: fantastic upgrade. my old notebook hard drive is a seagate 7K100 (7200rpm, 100gig, 8 meg cache). it scores 4.9 on WEI (windows experience index). new hitachi drive, with its 16meg cache, scored 5.3. sisoft sandra throws these numbers: seagate drive index: 36MB/S, Random Access Time: 14ms. hitachi drive index: 45MB/s, random access time: 15ms. 16meg cache really makes a difference! the drive has a little bit more prounced noise to it, but you honestly aren't going to notice unless you use your computer in a void.

Pros: Quiet Reasonably fast Stays cool Runs smoothly Reliable

Overall Review: IBM has been using Hitachi drives in ThinkPad notebooks for many years because of the good performance and reliability. I have had several ThinkPads over time and never had a problem with the Travelstar drives. This drive is no exception.
