Fully Tested and Certified in HP Laboratories

The M700 series features a dual-core HP controller with four flash memory channels that support NANDXtend ECC for fast and stable performance. Maximize your computer's performance, and increase responsiveness.

Durability with High Quality and Performance

* For reference only. Actual speed varies with capacity and system setups.

Better than other low cost DRAMless SSDs in many ways

Pros: 5 Yr warranty, High endurance, Reasonably good performance, MLC flash memory, HP tells you what's inside the case, Sturdy all metal case, Comes with screws, Nice packaging compared to most DRAMless SSDs - not a cheesy blister pack. Reports all required drive info to Crystal Disk Info

Cons: Runs Hot. 45 degrees C at idle. Jumps to 52C during sustained write operations. My other SSDs run at about 35-40C. Doesn't come larger than 240GB. No SSD toolbox software, but not needed since it reports drive information like Total Host Writes & Percent of Life Remaining to the free app, Crystal Disk Info. Most DRAMless SSDs don't come with software

Other Thoughts: Compared to other DRAMless SSDs like Sandisk Plus, Adata SU650, TEAM, Silicon Power A-55, Mushkin Source etc, this HP M700 has several distinct advantages, the main one being the 5yr US warranty. It also has about 50% greater endurance or lifespan for it's size than the others. The 240GB is rated at 145TBW before the flash memory is worn out. The metal case is much better than the cheap, all plastic cases other inexpensive SSDs use and having MLC memory should be a plus in a DRAMless design because even planar MLC is generally faster and lasts longer than 3D TLC memory. The only concern is that it runs hotter than most of my other SSDs. Not sure if this will affect how long it lasts, but it does have a 5yr warranty and all the other DRAMless SSDs have 3yr warranties

Usable but don't expect it to be as good as a better brand one

Pros: does what its meant to do

Cons: better speeds

Other Thoughts: Would recommend spending the $10 to get Crucial MX500 or samsung evo 850
But its alright if you really wanna save money.

So far so good, but runs hot.

Pros: Typical SSD. Small, fast, light as a feather. Only owned for a few days, but working fine so far

Cons: Not sure why, but this drive runs hot. HWMonitor says its running at 43c. By comparison my other Samsung SSD's run 24c-26c and my 2tb mechanical drive is running around 35c. not sure if this is a false reading or the actual temperature. But that is pretty warm for an SSD.

Super Fast

Pros: Alot faster than a hard drive disk, big difference in performance from SSD vs HDD, fast boot times, windows is more responsive

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: I've been using a HDD for years and I thought it was fine but once I put this SSD in from computer and booted from it, the computer was alot faster than before. Anyone that's thinking about getting a SSD should got one.

Has Potential? Had Potential ? It's HP either way

Pros: Looks decent. Good specs and price. Unlike hoverboards, they are unlikely to burn your house down.

Cons: HP may as well be named Casper, Christmas Present/Future/Past where this drive is concerned. Judging by Hp's and their partners' web pages, these are made by an unnamed 3rd party outside of North America, then shipped to Canada and thence to U.S. Like the old hoverboards, they are great if they work. If they don't, HP has made it virtually impossible to hold them accountable. As with hoverboards, you would need to track down a company in mainland China for support, and said company will have changed names several times in the last year.

Other Thoughts: I have lost track of mine at present, so I cannot comment on performance. It is worth mentioning I have one of HP's license-built OEM versions of the Samsung 840 Evo. When the 840 Evos were getting trashed for an algorithm error that slowed them to tar pits, Samsung found the error, fixed it and notified OEMs about their mistake. HP is the only OEM that failed to release firmware fixing the error. Now HP pretends that drive never existed. Sound familiar? Go ahead and search for this drive's product, spec, or support pages on HP.com; you'll find a lot of questions from owners about wether this is a fake -it is not- and where they can get support -you cannot. The sad part is these would be unstoppable if they had ANY kind of manufacturer support. This kind of nonsense is exactly why HP continues to struggle. They are too proud to admit either 1. that they did not manufacture these, or 2. that these have some sort of problem HP is not willing to fix. Did they forget how easy it is to search the internet for these discrepancies? Simply clicking Newegg's Manufacturer's Product Page link only manages to dump you on HP's main Store Page, which becomes morbidly humorous when a search for m700 on the HP Store turns up nothing. Another site for an HP Business partner provides specs and sales information for the M700, but no support, downloads, or RMA options. Their page also states they are committed to bringing quality ssd's to North America. Apologies if I misquoted them slightly; it has been a couple hours since I closed that page. For anyone wondering why this review still got 3 eggs, I only skew reviews positively or negatively when personal experience justifies it. Since there are no -1 to -5 egg options, 3 eggs should indicate a neutral stance.
