Pros: I have had this drive installed for 1 month. Works well with all media that I've tried (TDK, HP lightscribe, Ridata). The lightscribe labeling feature worked very well, too. Comes with everything that you will need for installation.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Cost was a little more than some of the other offerings, but I believe that it was worth it.

Pros: 1)It burns every kind of media I throw at it. I bought it because I had a slightly old burner and a stack of 50 memorex DL discs that my other burner wouldn't even recognise even after updating. It burns them just fine. I have burned at least 35 dvd's using the memorex, sony, imation and verbatim media with NO COASTERS so far! 2) It's fast. It actually burns all the media at max labeled speed. (keep in mind I have a fast system)

Cons: A little noisy when burning, but never when playing. I really don't care.

Overall Review: Running AMD 550 Black edition overclocked to 3.8 with 4GB of ram in windows 7 ultimate.

Pros: Fast reader, fast burner, seemingly reliable.

Cons: None that I've seen so far..

Overall Review: I have a hunch this may be a rebranded Lite-on, but not certain. Great price for a Lightscribe enabled burner.

Pros: -lightscribe support -dvd+-DL -PRICE -Quiet (This is the 2nd diskdrive in my tower and it is much quieter that my first drive, but my first drive sounds like a lawnmower so my impression may just be due to relative noise level. Quiet nazis may not agree with me.

Cons: Had one lightscribe image get misaligned on it's second pass and the result was a slightly fuzzy image. I'm not sure what caused the issue, but it hasn't repeated itself in the 15+ double printed labels since. ("double printing" & "second burn" are referring to the lightscribe label, not to a DL burn)

Overall Review: Labeled a full 25 pack of memorex lightscribe dvd's in just over a week or so. Zero coasters out of the whole thing. Found that the lightscribe print shows up better if you use a grayscale image and adjust it so there is more contrast than you would typcially be comfortable with. Best prints were ones that I did a double pass. Just print the same image on the same disk a second time. Results are dark darks and great contrast. Roxio has worked just fine for me despite many negative reviews of the program I've seen. I have not used the drive for a DL burn yet. As of this review I have only used the lightscribe label capability and burned several single layer dvd's. Installation was painless and quick. Overall this was a great buy and I would highly recommend it.

Pros: Burns anything I've put in it, is fast, no problems (so far) of any kind. Burned disks play fine in other drives. My thoughts pretty much match those of the other positive reviews. Thanks to them I bought this drive.

Cons: None really - some drives are quieter, tho this one's not bad. Others have commented that the disk tray is a little flimsy. Maybe it is but I don't use it for anything but a disk tray so that's not a problem either.

Overall Review: If you're replacing a PATA (IDE) drive you might need to tell the BIOS to activate the SATA port you're attached to. If your computer doesn't have an extra SATA power connector (mine would only reach the hard drive bay) you may need an adapter to connect from the older Molex power connector (which you may have plenty of ) to the SATA connector on your new drive.

Pros: What can I say? It works and is easy to install. Quite lightweight too, surprisingly. The features seem to be the best bang for your buck. You get SATA, Lightscribe, dual-layer burning, and a 24X DVD+R speed. Covers all the bases it seems! Plus, it's cheap cheap cheap.

Cons: It seems (at least mine) to make a high pitched whirl sound when in use. I understand that all burners will make noise from the high spin, but this seems almost ear piercing at times. Not a huge deal, as rarely do I have DVD's for much other than install or burning purposes, but I figured I'd toss it out there.

Pros: Works as intended. System recognized it without any troubles. First time using SATA drives. LOVE not having to fumble with IDE strip!

Cons: Nothing that I can think of so far, but it's only been a week.

Overall Review: Mine shows up as 1270d in system properties but the box in front of me reads as HP dvd 1270i. I can't see knocking off an egg for that, nor blaming Newegg. Still works for me without error, at this point.

Pros: It's a DVD burner and it works quietly...

Cons: Software included is trial and haven't figured out LightScribe (cd labeling). There's not much info on it. As far as I know the software didn't offer support (couldn't find anything but label printer) and I haven't found any LightScribe CDs, DVDs, etc. Would be nice if it was a smooth process but I may just stick to the old marker style of labeling CD's.

Overall Review: If you buy this same DVD writer from a department store your going to pay way more. I'm not mentioning any names but there's this very very large chain of electronic stores that sells the same product without LightScribe for about $40 MORE (you should recognize the yellow tag). Do yourself a favor, order it from newegg. If you don't like the DVD writer (which you will) they will make your return process very simple. Another "other thought"; if you have actually read this entire review, you have listened to me wayyyy to long but you are a smart shopper for even reading reviews on a burner. Keep up those shopping skills in this economy and buy quality items, you will go far with less!
