Pros: Burns all types of media. Love the lightscribe feature! I dont know what the complaints are about, but Im very happy with the quality of the disk. Would differently buy this again!

Cons: Only con I have found is the 25 minutes to burn the high quality image with lightscribe, but that should be expected.

Cons: Lightscribe capability is a MESS Check out the user forums on Surething or HP support to see the MANY issues. Be sure to downloaded latest drive firmware from HP support, latest lightscribe host SW from HP or your favorite label SW vendor. Lightscribe WEB site has Host SW also but not the latest. Lot's of media not recognized errors. Suprised by so many other reviews here loving this thing!!

Overall Review: buy it for the drive not the lightscribe! When you finally get it to work sit back, take a nap, your disc label will be done in 25 minutes!

Cons: Bought 740i for the light scribe benefit and it works intermittently. Hp support is non existant. After hours of doing meaningless tasks for their tech support, I would buy another brand.

Pros: For merely dollars more then non lightscribe dvd burners, why wouldn't you add this feature. Burns DVD's in all formats including DL's and CD's in great time. When i comes to DVD burners I have always stuck with HP. Comes with Nero & Nero is the best in burning features.

Cons: Dont know what could be the issue but it takes a second for the tray to open up. Dont know if it is because of the extra light scribe mechanic's that causes it but its not a huge deal at all. Any disk it does this for.

Overall Review: Light scribe is just an added bonus when creating dvd's or cd's. Where you spend to buy the special media, you save on using Ink & paper. It looks neater when I dont have to use a marker, my handwriting lax quality :)

Pros: Worked great for 8 mos. then it decided to just stop working , it will still burn but the lightscribe feature that i bought the burner for will no longer work.......i have tried the burner in 3 different machines and it still will not work , it is for sure the burner that has failed......

Cons: Found HP support to be very poor , they must be reading from a book i was told to try all the original methods i emailed them telling them i did try , still waiting for my second response from HP

Overall Review: When the burner was working i loved it but they have certainely not perfected this technology yet......very bummed ...

Overall Review: My first one I had for 6 months, worked well with no problem, then it started to no longer read DVDs, a week later, it would no longer burn nor read CDs. Returned adn got replacement. The second unit I've had for 1 month. Again worked well, until yesterday. Will no longer burn after 7 cds. It will however read CDs, but no longer read read DVDs. I have a second HP burned in the same computer (CD Writer 8200) that works very well. Did not think I would have this kind of problem with an HP unit, but proved wrong this time.

Pros: Burns any type of disk you throw at it at almost top speeds for any drive. Quiet and efficient. Lightscribe!!!

Cons: Lightscribe software is a bit tricky, but I'll get it down. Besides me having a hard time, none.

Overall Review: to fix the darkness issue make sure you're using a high contrast image and also turn the brightness down. should give you that quality you saw advertised. i had the same problem at first.
