Pros: Able to change the play area on the go considering the base stations are not required. Good enough audio quality in the headphones attached to the headset. The headset was comfortable to wear for an extended period of time. Was able to wear the headset with glasses without issues. Controllers were really comfortable as well. Controllers require batteries. (?)
Cons: When not using base stations, the tracking can completely stop working sometimes. A lot of light is required for decent tracking. (A few lights set up in my room was not enough to track properly.) Without looking base stations, looking up will display a tracking error message and the controllers will stop working until looking straight ahead again. Crouching would function for a second or two, but then the game would attempt to recenter the headset, making crouching during gameplay impossible to an extent. I was unable to have a clear image when just wearing the headset. After reading the manual, watching videos, or even reading a step-by-step guide on how to adjust the headset properly did not fix it for me. There was always a blur present unless I was pressing the headset against my face with my hand, which as you can guess, is not a permanent solution. Controllers might not be compatible with some older games that have not been updated with the new controllers in mind, requiring me to use a .dll made by a user in some games. I had to redo the room setup about 75% of the time I wanted to use the headset, even though nothing changed in my room. Rarely, when taking a break, the controllers will be completely unusable when starting the headset again. The controllers will just float in the middle of the screen, oriented in the wrong way, requiring a restart of the whole thing, even after updating everything. Controllers require batteries. (?)
Overall Review: I am overall disappointed by the product. To me, being able to experience VR without base stations was the selling point, but it ended up being immersion breaking, irritating, and its biggest disappointment for me. The tracking issues are, from my understanding, all related to not having base stations. Base stations being a necessity for a good experience just makes this headset not a worthy option in my opinion.
