Decided not to use... Bought a SATA DVD Burner instead.  Tried to run it and would not work.  I don't believe that other drivers are needed. Contact Newegg and ask them...

Do you know if the 40 pin IDE connector on the adapter shown is female (accepts pins) or male? I need to convert a 40 pin connector on an external drive kit and will need a female connector

Bob it is a 40 pin female connector. the kit itself is very useful and especially if your destination pc has no ide connectors.

I've only used this board with IDE converting to sata and it served its purpose just fine.

I have an older computer that has only ide support on the mother board, I would like to install a sata drive.

Will this kit allow me to connect a sata drive to the ide connector on the mother board?

Will this kit work with linux? I am using debian linux.
